An Important Homecoming Message
Dear River Hill Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we approach the much-anticipated Homecoming dance at River Hill, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of making good decisions and ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. Homecoming is a memorable and exciting time for our students, and we want it to be a positive experience for everyone.
Homecoming is not only an opportunity for our students to come together, celebrate school spirit, and enjoy the festivities but also a time for them to practice responsible decision-making. We understand that students may want to have fun and create lasting memories, but it is crucial that they do so in a safe and respectful manner.
Here are some key points that we ask you to discuss with your child in preparation for Homecoming:
Responsible Behavior: Remind your child of the importance of behaving responsibly during Homecoming events, both on and off campus. Emphasize that their actions should reflect the values and principles instilled in them.
Alcohol and Substance Use: It is illegal and dangerous for underage students to consume alcohol or use drugs. Please have an open and honest conversation with your child about the risks associated with these substances and the consequences of such actions.
Transportation: Ensure that your child has a safe and reliable mode of transportation to and from Homecoming events.
Communication: Remind your child to keep their cell phones charged and to stay in touch with you or a trusted adult throughout the evening. Encourage them to share their plans and whereabouts with you.
Peer Pressure: Discuss the importance of making decisions based on their own values and not succumbing to peer pressure. Encourage them to look out for their friends and seek help if they or someone they know is in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation.
Curfew: Set a reasonable curfew for your child to ensure they get enough rest and stay safe.
Emergency Contacts: Ensure your child has access to emergency contact information, including your contact details, and knows how to reach out for help if needed.
At River Hill, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. We have taken measures to ensure a secure and enjoyable Homecoming experience. Our staff and chaperones will be present to supervise and assist throughout the event.
Please partner with us in reinforcing these important messages about responsible decision-making. Together, we can help our students have a memorable and safe Homecoming experience.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school administration or counseling team.
