May 2024
Message from the SpEd Executive Director
As we wrap up another school year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each member of our special education team. Your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our students have made a profound difference in their lives. Together, we've overcome challenges, celebrated successes, and forged bonds that strengthen our community. As we reflect on the year behind us and look ahead to new opportunities, I am inspired by your resilience and passion for empowering every learner. Thank you for your tireless efforts. Wishing you a well-deserved break and looking forward to continuing our journey together in the new year.
But first, A VERY FULL MAY! Enjoy all of these traditions and "last" days.
Warmly,
Anjanette

Manifestation Determination Reviews
Guidance
- An MDR must be completed whenever a student reaches 10 consecutive or accumulated days of suspension.
- Once a student has reached the 11th day suspension, the “11th Day Rule” must be implemented.
- The 11th day rule requires that the student is provided with both general education curriculum and special education on every day the student is suspended, starting on the 11th day.
IEP Service Lines
Reminders
- When writing service lines on the IEP, rather than selecting a generic “case manager” role, please remember to select the specific provider role name instead (e.g. Resource Teacher, Center Based Resource Teacher, Career Transition Specialist, Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Gifted Education Teacher, etc.).
- Please also remember to click “Show Detail” on each service line and update the Attendance Building/Program and Staff Name.
