Happy Holidays!
Dear Atholton Families,
What better way to segue into the holiday season than a performing arts winter concert! Kudos to the Atholton High School Band and Orchestra programs for their outstanding concerts last week. The chorus concert is this Tuesday. I hope you can attend. The administrators and I thoroughly enjoyed each performance and are so proud of the phenomenal talent in our school. Kudos to Mr. Posner, Mr. Woomert, and Mrs. Meloro!
Our Stuff The Bus campaign was a huge success! Thank you once again to our Boosters for organizing this outreach to help those in need. See below! Additionally, you will find below our November Students of the Month! Congratulations to each of them for demonstrating the importance of establishing positive relationships with both staff and peers. Be sure to click on the image to see all of the names.
Upon our return from winter break, we are excited to offer once again STEMapalooza! We will have over 200 eighth graders visiting Atholton on Friday, January 3 for our second annual STEMapalooza event. Designed to get more students interested in engineering and computer science courses, our organizer, Ms. Fregeau and her students are excited to share how fun studying in these areas can be.
I apologize for the lateness of the newsletter this week. My family is in preparation for a three week trip to Cote d’Ivoire to visit relatives on my wife’s side of the family. Since the next newsletter will not be until January 5, please accept my holiday wishes from our Atholton family to yours!
As we near the end of 2019 and reflect on the gifts that our community has given and received in the past year, I feel very lucky to be a part of such a bright, lively, and uplifting group. In many ways small and large we are a remarkable community. The redistricting moves by the Board of Education will only solidify this. Our families represent widely diverse traditions and beliefs from different cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. That diversity is shared with all of us and teaches us about the importance of a global community. Every member of our community contributes to the values that we teach our children and creates an environment that honors each person. Thank you for the special contributions each of you have made to all of us. I wish you peace, understanding and contentment in 2020. May we each have opportunities to continue to learn and work in productive and satisfying ways, and to give and receive in equal measure.
See you next year!
Warmest Regards,
Robert Motley, Principal
