Virtual Open House - January 31, 2021
As we prepare for our annual January Open House on Sunday, January 31st, we're grateful to our families who contributed to a new video highlighting what the Doyle Difference means to our school community. if you haven't seen it yet, you can view it on Youtube by clicking here. Feel free to share with family and friends! Interested families are asked to pre-register for our virtual Open House by visiting bit.ly/FJVDOpenHouse.
Grammar Basketball
The Catholic Athletic League is seeking to host an abbreviated basketball season this year in accordance with RI Department of Health guidance on winter sports. At this time, Father Doyle is exploring the potential for hosting a boys grammar team. If you have a boy in seventh or eighth grade who may be interested in playing basketball at Father Doyle this year, please carefully review these policies and guidelines and then complete the basketball survey found here.
Rapid Testing Plans at Father Doyle School
Please take a moment to review our Father Doyle COVID-19 Rapid Testing Plan which was sent to families via email yesterday. The plan includes at least two more optional testing events on January 25th and February 21st, as well as the ability to provide tests in a highly targeted way to students and staff who develop symptoms during the school day. All families are encouraged to complete a testing consent form for their child/ren, which covers all testing for the 2020-2021 school year. Forms can be sent to Nurse Patti.
A reminder that students who are experiencing symptoms should still be kept home from school. For students with symptoms that indicate a probable case of COVID-19, the safest and preferred method of testing is still to schedule a test through the K-12 testing hotline (call 844-857-1814 or visit portal.ri.gov).
Wishing you all a blessed and enjoyable long weekend!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Travel Guidelines at FJVD
If your child has traveled to a state with a high community spread rate according to the list maintained by RIDOH, they must quarantine for fourteen days. The list of states maintained by RIDOH changes regularly, so please check frequently if you are planning to travel.
If you have questions or concerns regarding RIDOH travel procedures and how they may or may not impact your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Thank you for your continued adherence to these and all of our safety guidelines and procedures. Together, we can work to keep our community safe and healthy in the weeks ahead.
Hybrid Learning & Distance Learning Policies
As shared with families via email we have updated our Hybrid Learning and Distance Learning Policies and Procedures. You can find those changes outlined in the documents attached below, as well as linked here:
Hybrid Learning Letter to Families
Distance Learning Opt-In Dates
In addition, you can view a brief video summary of the updates here. We hope these changes will help make hybrid and distance learning increasingly manageable and effective for staff, students, and families alike!
Current RIDOH Quarantine Guidance
On December 10, 2020, the Rhode Island Department of Health released new Quarantine Guidance. A detailed summary of this guidance can be found here.
Generally, the guidance allows for:
- 14 Day Quarantine for Immunocompromised and/or Long-Term Care Staff
- 10 Day Quarantine for General Public (while continuing to monitor for symptoms)
- 7 Day Quarantine with Negative Test at least 5 Days After Last Exposure
A reminder that the Department of Health is the only organization that can mandate a person quarantine. The school will continue to address necessary hybrid learning scenarios on a case by case basis in consultation with the Department of Health.
Probable Cases & Testing Procedures
The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week to schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."
A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
