Volunteer Family Guidelines and Reminders 😊
Thank You For Volunteering At Nixon School!
Children benefit greatly from parent and family involvement in the classroom. As a volunteer, you enable enrichment opportunities that enhance the educational experience for children while supporting teachers and staff.
Here are a few notes of how to best support children, teachers, and the school while you volunteer today:
Attend to only your scheduled volunteer space in the schoolhouse
Refrain from interrupting classrooms and children when in the learning space
Please exercise discretion to maintain confidentiality
If volunteering in your own child’s classroom, let your child know you are volunteering and let them know that you will be there to help all the children in the classroom
A quick hello or wave into the learning space can seem slight, however, it does create a distraction to the instruction. Please save conversations and connections with your child for a time other than your volunteer time.
The guidelines for dismissal hold true even when you are already in the school and choose to dismiss your child when leaving your volunteer space. You must go through the front office and we will bring your child to you at the front of the schoolhouse.
