NSPRA Honors Two ALSPRA Members
________________________
The Alabama School Public Relations Association (ALSPRA) is proud to highlight two of its own who have been recently recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
Meagan Dorsey, Public Information Officer for Dothan City Schools, was notified that the NSPRA Executive Board has awarded her a Foundation for the Advancement of Education scholarship to the 67th Annual NSPRA Seminar, to be held July 11-14, 2021, in New Orleans. This scholarship covers the Seminar registration fee plus a $250 stipend for expenses. As an honoree, Dorsey has also been invited to attend NSPRA’s Annual Meeting/Celebration of Achievement at 1:00 p.m. on July 11, along with other NSPRA honorees.
ALSPRA member Mitzi Clayton, Public Information Liaison for Eufaula City Schools, has also been recognized by NSPRA. Clayton was notified in late-April that she is the recipient of the Don Bagin Memorial Scholarship to the 67th Annual NSPRA Seminar. This scholarship is made possible thanks to generous contributions from the Bagin Family Education Foundation. This scholarship covers the cost of Clayton’s Seminar registration.
The NSPRA 2021 National Seminar - “Reconnect/Refresh/Recharge” - brings the best in school public relations professional development to the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel and to an online event platform during July 11-14. The Seminar is the go-to place for high quality, thought-provoking sessions full of actionable ideas and strategies to elevate a practitioner’s work.
See more info on NSPRA's 2021 Seminar and register via https://www.nspra.org/national-seminar
Dorsey and Clayton will also be formally recognized at the upcoming ALSPRA Conference on May 7 (details below).

Both students secured the ALSPRA scholarship through an application process that included not only a look at their high school achievements, but also a written essay on trends currently facing communication professionals.
ALSPRA, the statewide coalition of professional school communicators, offers scholarship opportunities to students who plan to enroll in an Alabama college or university after high school and plan to seek a degree in communication, public relations or a related field. Students who are eligible may apply for the education scholarship program offered at the beginning of each
calendar year and awarded at the annual ALSPRA Conference in mid-Spring.
