Greetings!
It has been a busy time traveling to the Equipment Rodeo events around the state along with attending the West Alabama Worlds of Work in Tuscaloosa, AL and the Deep South Turf Expo in Biloxi, MS! The Green Industry was well represented at each event, and many thanks to all of those who contributed to making each stop a success! Check out the photos to see an overview of these events, and think about how you could help with them in the future!
The exam review classes for November are posted on the www.agitc.org website. If you need a license, check into signing-up for a class. The next two classes will continue our 2023-2024 USDA grant project with the Auburn University Horticulture Department, and they offer a reduced class fee with lunch provided!
The AGITC is focused on helping you achieve your goals! Reach out to me to see how the AGITC and Alabama Extension can assist in that process!
Take care,
John

2023 Equipment Rodeo Events
Green Industry Equipment Rodeo (GIER) events returned in 2023!
These events were made possible by the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association's Executive Director, Russell Wood, who juggled many moving pieces to put these events together. After you look through the photos, reach out to see how you can help with future events. Help will be needed with future hosting locations, equipment to use, and volunteers to coach for the day!
Events were held at the following five locations around Alabama:
- Packs' Nursery & Garden Center, Boaz, AL
- Wallace State Community College, Hanceville, AL
- City of Pike Road, Pike Road, AL
- Bryant Career Technical Center, Mobile, Al
- LeCroy Career Technical Center, Clanton, AL.
Over 450 high school students from twenty plus school systems got down and dirty with machines commonly found in landscape and nursery operations. During lunch they got to meet industry professionals and equipment dealers while learning about careers in our industry. Thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors!
