Staff Spotlight
Over the next few newsletters, we'll be spotlighting some of our support staff that you may not see on a regular basis to help inform everyone about the many people we have supporting GHS students. Below is our first edition.
Staff Spotlight - Patty Maddock - Online Learning Coordinator/ISS/Guided Study Hall
I was born on Long Island in New York and have lived in a lot of different places around the U.S. including Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and a little town in southern Virginia. My husband and I moved here in 2012 and I have taught at Bozeman High School until moving to Gallatin High. I have a Masters in Elementary Education and one in Literacy. It is my twelfth year in the district and I love my job - especially helping students get to graduation so I can watch them walk across that stage!
I wear a number of different hats at GHS. I supervise and track all students taking online classes through various schools including MTDA, BYU and Edgenuity. If you ever have a question about how a student can take an online class let me know. I also supervise, temporarily, ISS. Usually, when a student is in ISS I contact teachers to get missing homework and have the student work on it throughout the day(s) they are in here. If you have a student in ISS please contact me with any questions. Lastly, I am the Guided Study Hall Supervisor. Brennah Bell and I work together to assist students with their academic and social-emotional needs. I keep in active touch with teachers to help students get their grades up and keep them up. I am in contact with parents and counselors to keep them up-to-date on their students’ progress. My room is considered a ‘safe space’ for all students and they often come here for various needs throughout their day as well as to get food if they have not eaten. If you have a student in need of academic or social-emotional support please contact me, Brennah Bell or their counselor to see if and how Guided Study Hall might benefit them.
You can find Patty in A132.
Thank you to the theater club who provided entertainment at the holiday party
