St. Luke Weekly SMORE

Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
This week students learned what a hero is. A hero works through challenges in order to contribute to the greater good. A hero keeps on falling and getting up again. Being a hero is about tenacity, service and ultimately contribution to others. Children look at heroes in order to help develop their morals, their empathy and their resilience. Students reflected on what they are good at and what they can share with others. God gives us these gifts and talents that we can use to find purpose in our lives. We have been called and set apart to do HIs work as Terry Fox did. He was a hero and used his gifts and talents to show us what courage and determination looks like. After 42 years, Terry Fox’s dream lives on through the Marathon of Hope. We all ran this week in honor of the heroes in our lives. Those who have fought the battle with cancer courageously and those who continue to fight. Let’s live our lives showing others what being a hero can look like. Thank-you to all the parents who came out and participated in our Terry Fox run and those that donated money to the Marathon of Hope. Our school so far has raised over $350.00 which is getting closer to our $500.00 goal! Way to go St. Luke!
This week we will be honoring and remembering the Indegenous cultures. September 30th has now been made a federal government holiday in Canada, called Truth and Reconciliation Day. On Thursday we will show our support by wearing orange shirts showing that we are ‘Better Together’ and together we can make a difference.
Blessings,
Cathy Hinger

Power School
With the start of a new year there are new consent forms that need to be done for our students to use technology and go on fieldtrips. Please log on to your Powerschool account and complete these. We also require a Demographic form for each student completed if you have not filled one for this year and you please complete one of these as well. Demographic forms give us the most current contact information as well as correct address and phone numbers for our students. Alberta ED requires us to have every family fill out every year.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete these. Below are links to Powerschool and how to if needed. EICS Powerchool-https://eics.powerschool.com
