Dear Families,

We had a great first week back from the Winter Break. It was so much fun to have the students back on campus and hear about all the things they did over break.

I do want to remind all families that the end of the first semester is fast approaching. Semester 1 ends on January 19. Grades earned on this final semester 1 report card are students' official grades that will be recorded on their transcripts. With so little time left it is important that any and all make-up work, corrections, and/or test retakes students are still allowed to do get completed and turned in as soon as possible. It will also be important for students to regularly checking their assignments these final two weeks of the semester to make sure any remaining activities are turned in on time.

I also wanted to share that new fitness center and weight room is neary done and we are looking forward to our students being able to utilize all the new equipment. As you may remember, Coach Alissa Cott, applied for and received a $35,000 grant from the L.A. Chargers so Pershing could upgrade our fitness rooms in the PE area. A big thank you to the L.A. Chargers and to MSA Coordinator Lonnie Jones and Mira Mesa H.S. football's Coach Morales for coming in our the Winter Break and putting together the machines and setting up the space!

And finally sixth grade families, if you indicated on your sixth grade camp registration form that you were planning on sending your child to sixth grade camp and you were able to pay for some or all of the cost of sixth grade camp for your child we need those payments in ASAP. Please check out the sixth grade section below for more details.

WINTER WONDERLAND DANCE TICKETS ON SALE THIS WEEK

Our ASB is organizing our first dance of the school year. The dance will be held after school on Wednesday, January 17. Tickets will be on sale this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week at lunch. Tickets cost $1.00. Students must meet Pershing's academic eligibility criteria to purchase a ticket (2.0 GPA in scholarship and 2.75 GPA in citizenshp based on P2 grades).
