Center Community Chat
October 30, 2022
Dear Center Community,
The fall fun continues at Center!! On Monday, our K students will participate in the annual paper bag parade; a great way to start the week. A reminder that students are invited to wear fall festive colors tomorrow and not costumes.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed for the Recycle Day collection event on November 5th, 8AM-12PM. We need volunteers to help with greeting drivers, unloading donated items, and loading items into the recycle company's truck. Any interested parents can sign up at http://signup.com/go/ptocenter
This is a great fundraiser that supports enrichment programs for both Center Elementary and McCarthy Middle School.
Staff Update
Please welcome Steven Collins to Center school. He will be filling in for Ms. Stuart while she is on leave. Mr. Collins is no stranger to Center, having completed his student teaching here. Many thanks to Ms. Omobono for filling in until we could secure a LTS.
Center Cares
Dear Center Families,
As we approach the holiday season the Center Cares program at Center School is accepting gift card donations to help our families that need some extra support. Gift cards in $20-$25 increments (or any amount) from Target or Walmart would be most welcome! If you are able to make a donation, gift cards will be accepted at the front office.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and care.
Warm regards,
Ms. Lallas, Center School Counselor
Have a great week.
Warm Regards,
Dianna and Donna

ALICE Drills
During the week of November 1st - November 10th we will practice our first ALICE drill of the school year. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. This is a research based, options-based protocol that is non-sequential to respond to a dangerous individual at school.
We hosted grade level meetings to review a PowerPoint social story and elementary video explaining the drill on Thursday. Please see the video shared below. We have collaborated with the Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments on this drill to ensure we are engaging students and staff in a developmentally appropriate experience.
After we conduct the drill, we will send a communication to inform you when it has occurred. Should you have any questions about ALICE or about this drill, either leading up to the drill or after you have been able to debrief with your child, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
