Happy Presidents' Day
We hope you are all enjoying your three day weekend and have had some time to relax and recharge. Last week, we enjoyed a fun filled week full of spirit, the freshmen enjoyed a fun and educational field trip to Ventura, and many of our students enjoyed a movie night under the stars with friends, popcorn, and other goodies.
Here at HSMC, we have a busy week coming up. Our PSSA/WASC meeting was postponed to March 1st to allow Dr. Oplustic to accompany the outreach committee at MUSD's Future Freshmen night, the MUSD LCAP Parent Advisory Meeting Wednesday, and we will begin meeting with students to discuss their educational plans. Applications for next year are coming in fast and furious, if you know anybody who is considering applying to our school, please have them do so ASAP as slots are filling up fast.
Our HSMC students continue to impress us with their accomplishments, the latest being Serena Lee who was invited to play in an honor ensemble over the weekend. Tryouts for this year's talent show were held last Friday, the level of talent displayed was incredibly impressive! Mark your calendar's for this year's talent show on March 18th, you will certainly experience an evening of entertainment and fun with friends.
Have a wonderful week, Phoenix families!

CSMAR 2022 Patron Scholarship (FREE Money-Due April 15th)
The Conejo Simi Moorpark Association of REALTORS® (CSMAR) provides five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each based on the applications submitted, which have already been provided to you for circulation to the seniors at your campus. We understand that there are many students who may not be able to compete academically, or which don’t have the time or resources to pursue extracurricular and community service, to have an opportunity to win one of these scholarships. CSMAR is excited to announce we have approved two (2) additional scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each based on financial need and other disadvantages and hardship of high school seniors to assist in their costs of higher education, trade school, or adult career oriented educational pursuits. This new application is formatted differently and called The Conejo Simi Moorpark Association of REALTORS® Patron Scholarship.
If you would please forward the attached Patron Scholarship application and opportunity to all seniors on your campus. For convenience, an online copy is also available here.
Any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jay Lieberman, the Chair of the Scholarship Advisory Council.
Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid: Why it matters Students should apply for financial aid, even if they don’t think they will qualify. There are lots of options out there — and UC wants to make sure our students get every penny they deserve. Our financial aid program takes the pressure off students paying for their studies, so that they can concentrate on what’s important: their education. There’s plenty of help available for students from all walks of life. The first step is to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). The priority deadline is March 2. Students should apply for financial aid as it's the only way to guarantee they'll be considered for every type of aid possible, regardless of income level. More than half of UC undergraduates pay no tuition and 71 percent receive grants and scholarships, and it all starts with submitting the FAFSA or CADAA.
