Halloween Costumes for School
Halloween is around the corner and that means a fun time to dress up in our costumes!
Please remember all costumes need to be school appropriate.
Which means:
- No Masks
- No Fake Blood
- No Weapons of any kind
It would be a good idea to send an extra change of clothes in your child's backpack just in case their costume becomes too much and they want to change into something more comfortable.
Safety Drills Coming Up
Annual Earthquake Drill
We'll be holding our school-wide annual earthquake drill on Thursday, October 19th at 10:19am in part with schools across Oregon.
October 16-20, 2023 is National School Bus Safety Week!
Our students will be participating in bus safety drills to make sure they know what to do in case of an emergency.
Scholastic Book Fair!
Dear Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from Wednesday, October 18th – Friday, October 20th and from Monday, October 23rd – Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, at Aumsville Elementary School in the PTC Room in front of the 3-5 building. Hours: Before School from 7:30 am – 8:30 am and from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

The countdown to more Bookjoy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading,

3, 2, 1…Book Fair!
The countdown is ON to the best day of the year!
We are excited to host our annual fall book fair. For more information, please visit the Book Fair Home Page at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/aumsville.
eWallet
eWallet is the way to pay so Don’t forget to sign up for your eWallet. No more bills stuffed in backpacks! Kids shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Fair. Family and friends contribute funds. Then kids choose their own books. It’s convenient, simple, and secure.
How does it work?
It starts on your school’s Book Fair homepage. A child’s family follows a link to create a free eWallet account. There are three ways to fund an account: Add money with a credit card, use funds from a previous eWallet, or invite friends and extended fam to contribute. Because funds are available immediately, a child can shop the Fair with eWallet right away. Families can use a leftover balance to fund an eWallet for a future Fair.
The bigger the eWallet, the more kids read so share your eWallet link with Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, and anyone else who’d love to contribute to your kid’s library.

LOST & FOUND
During Conferences Come to the front lobby of the 3-5 (brick) building to check the lost and found!
It would really help us out if children's items could be labeled and we can easily return them.
We recommend Labeling coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, lunch boxes and water bottles.
Toys and Trading Cards Stay at Home
Please remember that students should not bring toys, trading cards (Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc) to school. We have a growing problem with toys being brought in backpacks that end up being lost, broken, or are creating a distraction in the classroom. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Cascade Community Employment Expo at the Family Resource Center on Oct 26 from 5-7:30pm.
Volunteers
It truly takes an “all hands on deck” mentality to run a school effectively. If you are interested in volunteering in your student’s class, chaperoning a field trip, or helping out behind the scenes, please begin the background check process found here or on the Cascade School District website on the “parents and students” page.
The background check process takes two-four weeks, is completely free, and lasts for two years. We recommend completing this early in the school year so as to avoid delay.
You no longer need to provide proof of COVID vaccination in order to volunteer.
The A Team!

Compliment Corner
Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around. If you would like to publically compliment someone at Aumsville Elementary or a community partner at an Aumsville Elementary event, you may do so here.
The compliment will show up in the next Panther Periodical!
Stephanie Moll: Thank you for the hours of time you volunteer to make FUN activities happen for Aumsville Elementary!
