New MVS Snow Policy
After the record number of snow days last month, we have revisited the MVS Snow Day Policy to make it simpler and clearer for families. Please see below. This will be our plan going forward.
MVS Snow Day Policy
In the event of a snow day school closing as determined by Maryville City Schools, MVS will cancel all on-site meetings and any virtual Zoom meetings. Students are still expected to complete all assignments on time for the week and due dates will not change. If your ability to complete assignments is affected by weather-related loss of power or Wi-Fi, students are to email teachers when they are able and request guidance. MCS delayed start or early dismissal will only alter the times of on-site or Zoom meetings that fall within the shifted time. If changes need to be made, MVS staff will email families directly. MCS digital days will have no effect on the MVS schedule.
Juniors Take ACT (Mandatory)
All Juniors across the state of Tennessee take the ACT test in the spring. This test is given at school, during school hours and is free to students. MVS juniors will be taking the ACT at Maryville Virtual School on Tuesday, March 26th. The test will be given on the laptop.
- Who: ALL MVS Juniors
- When: 8:00 until 12:00
- Where: Maryville Virtual School
- How: Arrive at the MVS front office by 8:00 with a charged laptop, an ID, pencils, and an approved calculator. (See ACT approved calculator info here.)
Please mark this date on your calendar. More information will be released soon. (Note- Taking the ACT is a graduation requirement.)
MVS Registration for Next School Year
We will start registering for next year's classes after Spring Break. More information will come out on this closer to that time. Note: If you are wanting to transfer back to your zoned on-site school for the 24-25 school year, in May, you will come in to MVS and complete the transfer paperwork and then register with your on-site school.
MCS Starlight Gala
The Maryville City Schools Foundation is proud to announce this year's Starlight Gala. The Maryville City Schools Foundation raises money and supports teachers and schools through grants for innovative practices. One way they raise money for schools is through an on-line school auction. MVS is excited to have items as part of this event! See below for the details and bid, if anything looks good!
Need ACT Practice?
If you are looking for ACT prep opportunities outside of school, there are many on-line and in this area. A few that have been used by MHS students in the past: ACT Website, Koontz ACT Cram Course, TestPrep Experts, Kaplan, Outliers Advantage, and ScoreSurge Prep.
Also, as an MVS student, you have access to an ACT Review tool within ClassLink! You can choose the subject you want to study and the score range that you are shooting for. Or you can enter your last ACT scores, and the software will create an individualized plan just for you! To access this ACT Review practice, login to ClassLink through the Login app, and then click on iXL, Skill Plans, Test Prep, and ACT.

24-25 FAFSA for Seniors Preparing for College
The 2024-25 FAFSA form is a very important financial aid document that you will need to help your child complete if he/she plans to attend ANY post-secondary education in the 24-25 school year. Also, for students to remain eligible for the TN Promise scholarship, the FAFSA must be completed by April 15, 2024. If you plan to complete the FAFSA with your child, please visit fafsa.gov to start the process.
FAFSA Workshop at Pellissippi State (for Seniors)
Seniors, considering going to Pellissippi State next year and need help completing the FAFSA? Here is an event for you!
Procedure Reminders
Ready to Start Driving?
Students must request their 1010 Form before going to the DMV to receive their Learner’s Permit. Please call MVS or email Jennifer Davis. 1010 forms are given based on the previous 9 weeks' grades. If you are failing multiple classes, you are not eligible for a 1010 form until your grades are brought up to passing. The 1010 forms are good for 30 days during the school year.
Turning in Late Work?
If you are turning in any late work, be sure to always contact your teacher after submitting the assignment. Teachers are not notified when a student submits assignments after the due date, so they may not know you even turned something in.
