Mattos Family Update
November 6, 2023
No School Friday, November 10th
Dear Mattos Families,
Next week, Mattos teachers will be conferencing from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, except Friday. This is a time for teachers to share the progress that your student(s) has made over the course of the first trimester. A report card will be given that reflect the growth. To learn more about our standards based grading system in FUSD, I would encourage you to read this information. If your students sees Mr. Colitz (computers in Room 15) and/or Mr. Sandifer (science in Room 27), you are welcome to check in with them following your child's conference with their classroom teacher. Due to the high number of students they see, the check in may need to be brief. If a more detailed conference is needed, an appointment can be made with them. If your student attends science with Ms. Saxena (Room 28), she will be available on Thursday after school to conference.
I want to thank all the teachers and students for their hard work over the course of the first trimester. I look forward to seeing so much more growth during the second trimester!

Attendance Matters
As we approach the winter season it is important to remember that daily attendance remains important. Please do not schedule trips outside of the window of days off (November 18 - November 26 and December 23 - January 7). Even a few missed days can lead to confusion when returning to class as well as lost social time with friends. Also remember, Public Health guidelines call for students to stay home from school only when they have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting. For guidance as to when to keep your child home, please see Health Guidance for Going to School.
