June 9, 2023 Celebrating Student Accomplishments!
Dear KRS Families,
Congratulations to the Kings Road School Fifth Graders! They were celebrated this morning by an audience of families, students, and staff. The celebration concluded with a song composed just for the 2023 class and performed by the fifth graders. Highlights of my speech about the fifth graders are included in this newsletter.
Thank you to the KRS PTO for purchasing tables and umbrellas for students, staff, and families to enjoy. Great thanks to Mrs. Kelly Browning for her work in researching, selecting and ordering the tables and umbrellas. Additional thanks to the current PTO Presidents Mrs. Dana DiPaola and Mrs. Natalie Malafronte and to PTO past presidents for providing the funding for the tables and umbrellas.
Please read next week's newsletter which will include suggestions for summer academic activities and important calendar dates for the 2023-2024 school year.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kathy Koop

Heard During the Fifth Grade Ceremony
"Their collective uniqueness, talents, gifts, knowledge, and sparkling personalities have strongly contributed to the tapestry of our KIngs Road school community."
"Their intellectual curiosity and abilities will propel them into a world of discovery, innovation, and improvement. The class of 2023’s ability to collect knowledge, make research-based decisions to create new knowledge, and communicate their findings are qualities that will contribute to the development of any community that values differences through empathy and appreciation."
"Celebrate and treasure your uniqueness and appreciate and realize that we are not supposed to be the same. Take care of yourself. Respect yourself by making decisions that you know are the best for you. You all deserve and should expect the very best from life and when you hit a bump in the road, realize it is just a temporary bump and keep on going."
"You are ready to fly forward to your next adventure but I request that once in a while you remember that everyone at Kings Road School cares for you and thinks of you. Every one of you possesses gifts that are extremely important to contribute to the world and the people around you. Build on what makes you special and believe that you can do anything you want to do."
Thanks to Ms. Quiroa and Mr. Alfano for setting-up for the 5th grade ceremony!
Congratulations to the KRS Kindergarteners for completing a great school year!
Thank you KRS PTO for providing these fabulous outdoor tables and umbrellas!
Thank you to the MPS Buildings and Grounds Crew for Assembling the Tables!

Summer Reading
Library News - Summer Reading
With only just a few days left in the school year, all library books should be returned by June 12. Take some time to look around your home for school library books. You’ll know they belong to the library if they have a spine label that has the call number of the book and a barcode on the back that includes the name of the school and the title of the book.
Summer Reading Program At Madison Public Library
Ms. Dana Skwirut, the children's librarian at Madison Public Library, presented to the KRS students during their lunch periods over the past two weeks. She has a great program planned, beginning with the kickoff celebration on Tuesday, June, 20! Make sure to stop-by the library to sign-up. This is a great way to keep reading skills from sliding over the summer.
The Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration is Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at 39 Keep Street. Attend the celebration at anytime between 2-4 PM to celebrate the start of the Public Library’s 2023 Summer Reading Program! There will be games, crafts, face painting, an opportunity to sign up for the public library’s summer reading club, and more. The first 200 participants will receive a tote bag and an extra sweet treat just for registering!
Then at 4 PM all are invited for New Jersey’s Favorite Family Entertainer Conrad Cologne, who will perform an interactive magic and storytelling program for children and their families. Based on children’s books, stories come to life during the show using magic, interactive storytelling, puppetry, and comedy. The theme of the “Better Together Magic Show” coincides with the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) summer reading theme of “All Together Now”.
The program runs about 45 minutes and is suitable for children 4-12 and their families. This program will take place in the Chase Room. No registration is required, but be sure to arrive early as they will let the audience in on a first come, first serve basis.
