Principal's Message
Welcome to Spring
Viking Families,
As we approach the season of spring, I am excited to share with you the theme for this upcoming season: "Spring is a time for great growth."
Spring is a season of renewal and rejuvenation. It is a time when we see the first signs of new life and growth all around us. The days are longer, the weather gets warmer, and everything seems to come alive again.
As we embrace the spirit of spring, we encourage our students to take advantage of this time for great growth in their academic and personal lives. Spring is the perfect opportunity to set new goals, work hard, and achieve new heights.
Here at Bonney Lake Elementary, we are committed to helping your child reach their full potential. We believe that every student has the ability to grow and learn, and we are dedicated to providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed.
We encourage you to talk to your child about their goals for this spring season. Encourage them to take on new challenges, try new things, and embrace their strengths and weaknesses. With your help and support, we can ensure that our students will experience great growth this spring.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can help our students reach new heights and achieve marvelous things.
Sincerely,
LeeAnn Alfano
Spring Conferences
Spring conferences are quickly approaching. We would like to meet with each and every family; however, we only have two half-days on March 28 and 29 to hold conferences. Teachers will request a conference with families that are new to BLE, or if their student is experiencing learning challenges and may not meet the end-of-year standards. Teachers will notify families that they need to conference. Families may also request a conference. The purpose of the conference is to build connections and partnerships that will help us ensure the learning of each student. We look forward to connecting with you about your student!
Like in the fall, Spring Conferences will be held in person at our campus on the afternoon of March 28 and 29. We realize that many parents and guardians may still be at work and Zoom conferences are available upon request. Report cards will be sent home with your student on Friday, March 24th.
Questions? Please let us know!
Mrs. Halvorson-Tran to move to LRE in fall 2023
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of our Assistant Principal, Connie Halvorson-Tran who will be at Liberty Ridge Elementary in the fall of 2023. While we are sad to see Mrs. Halvorson-Tran go, we are proud of the amazing work she has done at Bonney Lake Elementary and the impact she has had on our community.
During her time at BLE, Mrs. Halvorson-Tran has made a significant contribution to our school's success. She has been a dedicated and hardworking member of our team, and her positive influence has been felt by students, staff, and families alike.
Mrs. Halvorson-Tran has been an integral part of the Viking Family and has played a crucial role in enhancing the learning environment and improving academic and behavioral outcomes for our students. We will miss her dearly and are grateful for the time we have had together.
On behalf of the entire BLE community, I want to thank Mrs. Halvorson-Tran for her hard work, dedication, and commitment to our students and wish her all the best in her new role.
Growth Parade - Mark Your Calendar!
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 22nd from 9:30-10:00. We will be having our second annual growth parade, rain or shine. This year we will have one big parade for all students K-5, with the students circling the track two times.
Last year, was our phenomenal parade debut. My hope is for you to get it on your calendar now so that this student celebration of growth can be attended by all! Here at BLE we want to define and celebrate grit, growth mindset, perseverance, and productive struggle in the classroom and our interactions. Our students are setting goals now. It is so fun to watch them grow. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
More details will be coming soon.
Welcome Mr. Corey Gould
Greetings Viking Families!
My name is Corey Gould, and I’ve been invited to serve as your Assistant Principal in the '23-24 school year. I’ve served full-time in two schools in the district since 2006. Daffodil Valley and Liberty Ridge have both been great homes. A little known fact is that I was first introduced to SBLSD as a long-term sub in BLE! I’ve got two kiddos, one at SHS and the other at SMS. My favorite part of the typical school day is greeting kids and families as they arrive in the morning. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your children.
Kindergarten Registration Opened on 2/7
Welcome to the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District! Do you know a child who will be five years old on or before August 31? Maybe it's your neighbor, friend or even your own child. Now’s the right time to enroll next year’s kindergarten students. The sooner you enroll, the better we can keep you informed. Get information on what documents you need and how to enroll -- the process is all online at sumnersd.org/register.
To help welcome new kinders and their families, each of our elementary schools created virtual tours, which includes a school tour and staff introduction. Watch each schools' video here.
Ready to start the kindergarten registration process? Visit our Enrollment page for details on the three-step registration process.

Character Trait for March
This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share?
