CMAS Testing 2021- Our Time to Shine
We will be taking state assessments this year. The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) will begin at NVCS on April 12, 2021. While there has been a lot of negative news around standardized assessments we at NVCS are looking at this moment as our opportunity to shine. We have been blessed to have more in person instructional opportunities this year than many schools in the state and across our nation. We want to lend our data to the state and national compilation because we believe that our students will provide evidence that in person instruction has been beneficial in the learning of our students. We are excited for our different approach to education this year to be able to lend to our state and national data and to be able to have these comparisons to review as we move into the next school year.
NVCS uses the data collected from these assessments to learn where student learning gaps are, plan our instruction, and invest in curriculum and student supports in upcoming school years to ensure our students have the supports they need to grow to their fullest potential.
Please click on the attachment below to access more information about our testing schedule and information about how CMAS will look different this year compared to years past.

CMAS Information
Student Pedestrian Safety
We have been getting reports of unsafe behavior from students gathering at Maui Wowie Smoothie Shack. If your student is a walker, or attends Boys and Girls Club please speak with them about not loitering at this location and about pedestrian safety when traveling to their destinations. We will have staff supporting our neighboring businesses by encouraging walkers, bikers, and BGC members to continue moving to their destinations to ensure these reports regarding student safety do not result in an accident involving students.
Thank you for your support in this,
Marian Hejl
