What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
Dear OMS families,
Reminder there is no school on Monday, May 31st in observation of Memorial Day.
Looking forward to a great week,
Erin, Julia, and the OMS staff
Remote Families - Technology and Materials Return
If you are a fully-remote family, we will collect school items on Friday, June 11th, between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. You may bring the items to the front entrance. If you are unable to make that time slot, you may return items any time between 8:15 am - 4:00 pm on Monday, June 14th. Classroom teachers will let you know what items need to be returned.
REMINDER - Student Drop Off - Morning or After Lunch
For the safety of our students, it is important that parents drive their car into the OMS parking lot, walk with the child to the front entrance, and use the code on the front door and your phone camera to sign him/her in. Please do not drop a child off on Olive Street. Please do not drop a child at the curb of the parking lot and have him/her walk up alone. And please, under no circumstances should a child be dropped off and the car drives away with the child standing outside.
For home lunch, please keep in mind that the return time from home lunch is 1:10-1:15. Any students that are back from lunch early should wait outside with the adult that took them out for lunch. Students arriving after 1:15 are tardy.
REMINDER - Masks
Please ensure that your child has 2 appropriately-sized masks with them each day. Each student should enter the building with a mask on, and have a backup in their bag in case the one they are wearing becomes wet, soiled, or tears.
MOVING? NOT ATTENDING OMS NEXT YEAR?
If you are moving or registering your child at another school for next year, although you may have already told your classroom teacher, you must also let the OMS office know of your plans. Please email the office as soon as possible at OMSoffice@sd25.org so that we may plan accordingly for getting your student's files to their new school.
** This includes 5th-grade students. We need to notify the middle school that your child will not be moving up to the middle school.**
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
It's crazy to think that it's already time to start thinking about ordering your child's school supplies for the 2021-22 school year! While you can always shop for the supplies yourself, the PTA always works with an online vendor to make it super easy for families to get everything they need, and your order is delivered right to OMS. This year, online school supply orders are a fundraiser for the PTA to help fund the many programs the PTA organizes for the students and school.
You can quickly and easily order pre-packaged kits online with 1st Day School Supplies. Online orders are due by June 30, 2021. School supply kits will be delivered to OMS and in placed in your child’s classroom by the first day of school. In addition to the standard school supply list for your child's grade, you may also purchase optional accessories like backpacks, lunch coolers, and water bottles. Please click here to order online.
Of course, you may always purchase supplies on your own. Here is the list for the 2021-2022 OMS School Supplies, with a page for each grade level.
Whether you order online or shop yourself, please check the list carefully and make sure you are referencing the correct grade for your child. (Note: school supplies are notebooks, pencils, etc. requested by each grade. This is not the same as the annual school fee paid during registration.)
***UPDATE***
Students will be required to bring their OWN headphones next year. This is not currently listed on our school supply list. OMS will no longer offer the option for parents to purchase headphones through the school. More information regarding headphones will be shared next week.
