This is just a reminder for all families with incoming kindergarteners:

If you haven't done so already, please send in all kindergarten registration forms to the school office. If you have questions please contact the school office at (859)356-2155.

As you are aware, KCSD has adopted a new Community Based Accountability Model to focus on ALL the wonderful things that are taking place in our Kenton County schools. This forward-facing model focuses on so much more than just an end of the year test score. The 7 Pillars of the CBAS model are listed below:

Pillar 3, Engaged, Well Rounded Students focuses on engaging students in activities inside and outside of school that contribute to their overall development and future well being. Recently there have been several great opportunities, shared via Class Dojo, for our students to get involved. Many of these opportunities begin this month. Check out the information below for reminders on upcoming events. We will continue to share new opportunities, via Class Dojo, as they come about.

This is just a reminder for those who have signed up, Piner's first ever Kindness Club begins on Wednesday, February 2nd at 8:00AM

The Piner Piglets Running Team is now open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

If you are interested in running with The Piner Piglets Running Team this year, please complete the google form below by Friday, February 4, 2022.

The Running Club will run from February 14 - May 2, 2022.

Practices will be held on Mondays from 4:00 - 4:45 PM, beginning (weather permitting) on Monday, February 14th.

Construction is well underway at Piner and the foundation for our new addition has been poured. Yay!!! Along with working on the new addition, the construction crew will begin working on building renovations. Starting in March, Piner's Library will be shut down as these renovations get underway. Mrs. McQueary will be pushing into the homerooms for all of her special area classes.

Because students will no longer be able to check out books from our school library starting in March, please consider visiting the Kenton County Public Library - William E. Durr Branch to continue reading with your children at home.

We are also in the process of trying to set up a partnership with the Kenton County Public Library so that our students could be provided books from them. We will keep families informed as soon as more information is received.

Teachers and students also have access to online books throughout the school day via Epic Books. Unfortunately, teacher and student access is only available during the school day from 7AM - 3PM. Families can sign up for a FREE Basic Epic Books account and students will have access to one free book a day. Check out the link below if you are interested. https://www.getepic.com/plans

Piner students and families can also access Piner Library's Summer Reading Google Site for additional resources.

So far KCSD has utilized three NTI Days:

• December 8th - NTI Day #1
• January 7th - NTI Day #2
• January 28th - NTI Day #3

With the upcoming inclement weather, we wanted to remind families of Piner's NTI day process. On the days that school closes and NTI days are used, students will have assignments (either online or previously sent home in a folder) to complete at home.

On these NTI days students will complete their NTI assignments for that particular day. These NTI assignments will be a review of content previously taught or it will be a practice of skills that have been worked on throughout the year. Teachers will be available on NTI days to assist students and parents by phone, email, Google Meet, Google Voice, etc. All NTI assignments should be completed at home and submitted or returned to school within 7 calendar days. Student participation in NTI day assignments is monitored.
