Dr. Marscher's Message
WELCOME (Back)!
For those of you who are new to our Lilja family, I am Dr. Marscher. I was the school psychologist here at Lilja for 8 years, and am now entering my 2nd year as the principal. I am dedicated to creating a school environment where both students and teachers can thrive.
Over the course of this year our newsletter will be the place to find information on current events, upcoming important dates, and to learn about our school happenings and school culture. Please reach out to me or to our Vice Principal Ms. Buckmire at any time with questions, concerns, or kudos for our team!
I am ready for a year full of inspiration, excitement, and of course education. I look forward to working with your student and with you!
Things You Need to Know
SAVE THE DATE!
Curriculum Night will be the evening of Thursday, September 21st! Details will be shared in a future communication.
COMPLETE YOUR REQUIRED YEARLY FORMS!
Please log in to your Powerschool account to complete the required yearly forms! These must be done EVERY YEAR. This information allows us to get in touch with you in the event of an emergency and gives us information on your preferences for your child, including photo permissions. If you have any difficulty please reach out to the front office staff.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES UPDATE:
Car pick up: The car line can start forming at the cafeteria doors- as we no longer have preschool dismissal, you do not need to wait at the top of the Sergeant Field hill while the queue is forming.
PLEASE EXCUSE US!
Our staff are expected to direct all visitors to the front entrance for entry and exit. Therefore, while our staff may key themselves in to the various other doors they are not permitted to let you inside. Similarly, our campus is closed (including the playground) from 7am to 6pm as our before and after school programming have students during this time frame. We appreciate your understanding as we do our part to keep all students safe.
FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH
Breakfast is available at the Lilja cafeteria for students beginning at 8am. Students can be buzzed in at the front or cafeteria doors and will be monitored in the cafeteria until arrival begins at 8:20am. Any student arriving at 8:20 who wants breakfast will be able to get a "grab n' go" breakfast at the cafeteria that they may bring to their classroom to eat.
Lunch is also free to all students this year! Please review the lunch choices with your student so they are prepared to make a selection in the morning. We order our student lunches from the high school- therefore, students must eat what they order and will not be able to change their mind in the cafeteria.
**Please note, a la carte items are NOT free. For example, if your child buys milk only they will be charged for that purchase.**
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WELCOME K FAMILIES!
If you were unable to join us in May or on the A and B days, here is the Welcome Presentation for our new families. Please reach out with any questions, we are so glad to have you join us!
The Lilja PTO is a group of volunteer parents. Our goals are to enrich the education of our children, support the teachers and staff, and serve the Lilja community as a whole. We fundraise to supply materials, fund programs, organize social functions, and coordinate parent volunteers, all of which enhance the experience of Lilja students and build a sense of community within the school.
We need your help! Please reach out to the PTO at pto@liljapto.org to volunteer! We are looking for people willing to head some of our events throughout the year (Trunk or Treat, the Lilja Carnival, etc). These events are much beloved, and have a foundation already in place. All we need is YOU to make it happen! We look forward to hearing from you soon!
