Cameron Ranch Falcon Connection
February 2024
Greetings Falcon Community,
February is Black History Month and at Cameron Ranch we aim to highlight the inspiring stories and voices in America's black history. Black history is American history, and Black History Month provides the important and necessary opportunity to amplify the voices, perspectives, experiences, and important contributions of Black Americans. The Cameron Ranch community strives to highlight these voices, not just during the month of February, but all year long to support students as they learn, discover, and understand the profound contributions of Black Americans in science, technology, politics, art, and civil rights, to name a few.
Get ready to have a great time as students perform the dances they have been practicing for weeks at our Starstruck Dance Event on TUESDAY, February 13.
Please Note:
6PM Performance (to classrooms by 5:30): Rowland, Collett, Overholt, Roscoe, Graham/Barbot, Nguyen/Ortiz, Schofield, Garrett
7PM Performance (to classrooms by 6:30): Colvin, Pon, Purdy, Salt, Montero, Hecker, Hart/Xiong, McCarthy
Our school-wide focus during February is Friendship. On Friday, February 2nd, our student council, with help from some of our youngest learners, shared ways be a good friend. We will come together as a school at the end of the month to celebrate what friendship looks like across our school.
February is an exciting month for our Library Learning Lab! Students have been given access to hands-on materials on Health and Human Anatomy. The heart and human body models have already been a big hit, as students interact and explore each week during library visits. Staff also uses the Library Learning Lab materials year-round to strengthen concepts taught in the classroom, and as additional opportunities for students to discover more about their place in the world through exploration (image below).
I'd like to highlight Bright Life Kids, a FREE behavioral health coaching app for parents and caregivers. "Get support with the tough stuff and help your child thrive" - No costs attached. No insurance required. No referrals needed.
