A Message from Perkiomen Valley High School
HS News
PAC Champs Girls Basketball
Congratulations to our Lady Vikings on their second consecutive PAC championship. The final game was an exciting one at Spring-Ford High School over the Rams. We are excited as the team begins district playoffs next week, Feb 21.
Main Office Circle
The main office circle is a bus only area from 7:15-7:40 and from 2:15-2:45. If you need to drop off a student in this area we ask that you do it outside of those times. We are not able to accommodate cars dropping off or picking up students while buses are in the circle. Thank you in advance for keeping all of our students safe.

Program Planning- New Courses and Timeline
The high school is excited to announce the addition of several new courses for the 24-25 school year. In December, our board approved the addition of AP Macroeconomics, Viking Genius Bar II, Unified Physical Education and Engineering Design. The program planning guide can be found on the high school website https://www.pvsd.org/high-school/program-planning/
We will begin the process of picking courses for the 24-25 school year soon. Students and parents will be able to view and pick courses February 16 through March 7th. Counselors will then review the courses. Students are reminded that after March 7th any changes to requests must be made through the counselor.
The LAST date to make changes to requests for the 24-25 school year is March 31, 2024.

Mountain Biking Team
PVSD is proposing to launch a Mountain Biking Team (Grades 6-12). Thank you for taking the time to participate in our mountain biking survey for students. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Your insights are essential in understanding the perspectives and concerns as PVSD considers launching their own Mountain Biking team. Our proposed team would be co-educational and include grades 6-12. Our season will run from July 1, 2024 -November 1, 2024.
Mountain biking is not only a thrilling outdoor activity but also a community-driven sport that promotes physical fitness, outdoor exploration, and skill development. Whether you are a student passionate about navigating challenging trails or a parent providing support and guidance, your experiences and opinions contribute to the growth and improvement of the mountain biking community. Please answer the following questions honestly and to the best of your ability.

2 Hour Delay Schedule
I am including a copy of the 2 hour delay bell schedule, just in case we might need it this winter.
Nurses' News
Illness at School
The following procedure should be followed if a student becomes ill at school:
Students are expected to report to the nurse’s suite if they are not feeling well. A parent/guardian will be called if the nurse determines the student is too ill to remain in school, has a temperature of 100.0F and above, or vomiting/diarrhea.
A prearranged early dismissal by the student/ parent for illness is considered an early dismissal. Should a parent/guardian need to have a student dismissed from school before the regular time for special or urgent reasons, the parent/guardian should send a written request or email that includes the reason, date, time, and signature of a parent/guardian. Early dismissals will be recorded as class absences.
The student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medications (i.e. Tylenol or Advil), and 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school.
Students are not allowed to be sent home in an Uber, Lyft, taxi, etc.

Spring ASVAB Test - March 6, 2024
If your child is in grades 10-12 and is considering a career in the armed forces or needs guidance in choosing the right career path, they may consider taking the ASVAB exam. By taking the ASVAB, participants become eligible to use the ASVAB Career Exploration Platform. Additionally, a successful ASVAB score can fulfill graduation pathways (Act 158) if Keystone exams were not passed. The exam is scheduled for March 6 and parent permission slips are due in the counseling center by 2/21. ASVAB will be holding a parent information Zoom on January 22 at 6:00 PM. For any additional questions, please contact Mrs. Kate Kelley, our Career Counselor, at kakelley@pvsd.org.
SAFE2SAY
Our students can submit an anonymous tip through the Safe2Say Program. Tips are typically related to a variety of challenges our students experience or witness, such as bullying, harassment, disrespectful language, safety concerns, etc. When a tip is received, the State (who runs Safe2Say) immediately follows up with building administrators
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
