Miller Elementary Weekly Update
February 11, 2024
February is National Dental Health Month
Dr. Vogley the Super Plaque Fighter and the Tooth Fairy Visited Miller on Friday
Mrs. Goodman's Message
Hello Miller Families!
I hope this weekly message finds your family doing well after a lovely week of sunshine and warmth! We have enjoyed getting outside and seeing the sun all week long. What a treat in the middle of winter! Speaking of treats, we want to thank each of you and of course our PTO for showering our teachers and staff with goodies, food, and cards all week long! We feel honored to be with your children each day and we appreciate your partnership in helping your child grow, thrive and learn.
Dr. Vogley and the Tooth Fairy came to Miller on Friday to share the importance of brushing and flossing each day! Our kids had a lot of fun learning how to brush for 2 minutes, floss (as seen in the large photo), and how our teeth create plaque (also called "tooth poop" in his authored book)! Ask your child what they recall from our special presentation!
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day this upcoming week along with our Random Acts of Kindness Spirit Week! Please look for specific communication from your child's teacher about our upcoming celebration of Valentine's Day and sharing cards with our classmates. Please note that some of our spirit days might be in a different order than the other elementary schools. We are looking forward to a fun filled week ahead.
We also wanted to communicate that we are experiencing an increase in positive cases of COVID, Strep, and Flu in various homerooms. We will continue to inform families of specific communicable diseases within your child's classroom but we also want to keep everyone in the loop about an uptick in illness in our building. Thank you for being diligent about checking your child for symptoms and we will continue to enhance cleaning protocols.
Finally, this is a reminder that we have two shorter weeks ahead as our district has a scheduled professional development this upcoming Friday 2/16 and we will be closed on Monday 2/19 for Presidents' Day.
Happy Super Bowl Sunday and Happy Valentine's Day!

School Counselor Updates: Mrs. Ambrosia
Hello Families! Kindergarten students should be proud to share that they have mastered the ZONES of Regulation. They’re mini-experts at explaining how they feel. We’ve also been working with learning some coping skills incorporating breathing, finger tapping and tracing. Another enjoyable activity has been listening to A Little SPOT Series – Diane Alber. These are books that help the students understand feelings while incorporating coping strategies.
This week, we will be celebrating kindness! Please enjoy these Kindness at Home activities from The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.
As always, please feel free to reach out at any time if your student would benefit from extra support during their school day. It’s been great to watch them grow as Greenmen!

Miller Parent Pick-Up and Attendance Reporting
This is a reminder that we are using our Miller Attendance and Parent Pick-up Form as an easy communication tool to report your child will be absent or you need to pick them up from school early. You still need to use the Alternative Bus Stop Form linked in this newsletter if you need your child's bus to change. You do not need to report if they will not be riding the bus in the morning due to an absence or illness on this form.
If you want to change your child from a bus rider to a parent pick-up, please scan the QR code below or click the button to fill out our Google form. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Wolf.
If you need an alternative bus stop or a change in busing, we also have attached the transportation forms to change your child's busing information. These forms need to be completed and sent to our transportation department at transportationinfo@aurora-schools.org
As a reminder, you can send in cash or check made out to the Aurora City Schools and we will add any amount to your child's lunch account. Please send in money in a clearly labeled envelope so we know to add this amount to your child's account!
