Sunset Book Fair 2018 is coming soon!
The Sunset Book Fair starts Monday, October 22nd!
This is a perfect opportunity for families to purchase wonderful titles to read with their children. Consider looking for a just right chapter book, a new picture book to explore together, or a thrilling novel to entice your avid reader. Books also make wonderful gifts for birthdays and the holidays. By purchasing a book, not only will you be encouraging the reader in your child, but you will also be supporting the Sunset Library. Funds from the Book Fair will go towards purchasing new books for our book collection and towards bringing an author or an illustrator to our school.
If you would like to support your child’s classroom library, be sure to check out the Teacher Wish Bins. These bins are filled with books teachers would love to have in their classrooms for students to read. Simply purchase the book, have your child fill out a Gift Sticker and your child can give the book to his or her teacher.
We have an online book fair that starts on October 19th and will be open for purchases through November 8th. The online store has an even greater selection of titles than we can physically fit in our school book fair. The books purchased online go towards new books for our school library as well. When you purchase book fair books online, they are delivered to the school and given to your child to take home. If you have purchased these books as a gift, please let us know here at school to call you when the books arrive. Online book purchases arrive after the physical book fair has ended. You can access the Online Book Fair from the Sunset School home page under Quick Links. http://www.scholastic.com/bf/sunsetprimaryschool
The physical Sunset School Book Fair will be open to students during the students’ 20-minute recess each day when there are no classes scheduled and with an adult after school until 3:30. In addition, each class will have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair during their scheduled library time as well. At this time, students can simply browse the books or if families are comfortable with sending money to school with their child, students can purchase during the class’ library time. In the past, we have found putting money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on it to be helpful. Another great idea, especially for younger students, is to circle the books you want your child to purchase on the Book Fair flyer going home soon and send it to school in a ziplock baggie with the money. Otherwise, you might be surprised by that poster or erasers that came home instead. The Book Fair starts Monday, October 22nd and will run through Friday, October 26th. Hope to see you there!
Don’t miss out on the Pastries with a Parent event on Wednesday, October 24th! Bring your adult with you to school Wednesday morning starting at 6:40 AM to enjoy a pastry, shop the book fair and read with your child until school starts! Adults, please stay with your child until 7:40 when our gym opens to students.
