Dear Sunshine Parents,

Thank you for joining us last week for Curriculum Night! We enjoyed sharing the night with you, your child’s curriculum and the way your child be taught this material over the 2015-2016 school year. We hope this information was beneficial for parents to know what your children’s daily experience is like here at Sunshine STEM Academy. Also, a special thank you to those parents who were able to join our Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO), in an effort to better support and promote the academic success of all of our students!

We have completed MAP 2015 Fall Test. Results are available on our Portal and MAP Progress Reports will be sent with students today. You will find details in this newsletter below.

We will have our first 'Cofeehouse with Administration' meeting of the 2015-16 school year next Thursday night. You may find details about this month's meeting topic below. I look forward to seeing you all next Thursday, September 17th.

Be sure to mark your calendar to join us Thursday, September 17th for our first Coffeehouse with Administration 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

The topic will be Gradebook, Sunshine Portal and Online Resources. Please join us to learn about our new gradebook, practice its features and discover the available resources on our Portal.

Our Parent Volunteer Organization would like to know parents who can help PVO by volunteering for school events and activities. Please fill out survey if you are interested in volunteering for our school activities.

Survey is accessible on our Portal. Please follow steps listed below:

1. Login Portal at http://portal.sunshinestemacademy.org
   
2. Scroll down and click Forms button
3. Then, blue buttons under Forms category will appear underneath Forms button. Click on Volunteer Interest Survey button. Then survey will open in new window. (Please see screenshot below)

MAP Test Fall Term Administration is completed. Your child's score is available on your child's portal account, under Dashboard section (please see screenshot below).

Paper copies will be sent with on Friday (9/11/2015) in the student folder.

MAP Learning Path on Study Island aligned to MAP Fall test scores will be ready on Monday.

Please encourage your child to complete the MAP Learning Path until next MAP Test administration which is MAP 2016 Winter term.

We would like to announce that MAP Winter Term will be administered at the first week of December from December 1st to December 7th. Results will be shared with parents after December 8th.

Our school library will be available to checkout books starting Monday September 14th. Students can visit Media Center between 7:10 and 7:45 to check-out books and return their book.

Accelerated Reader quizzes will be available starting Monday, September 14th. Students can visit Media Center in the morning between 7:10 and 7:45 to take AR Quizzes for the book they read.

If you are interested in volunteering for AR Quiz Help for students, please send an email to PVO@sunshinestemacademy.org

If your child is in Kindergarten, 4th grade or 5th grade and if you are interested in being a homeroom mom for your child's homeroom, please send an email to pvo@sunshinestemacademy.org

Any students not picked up during the after designated adjusted carpool times below, will be sent to our After School Program located in the Media Center, and a fee will be charged.

Adjusted carpool schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

First Carpool : 3:15 PM – 3:30 PM

Second Carpool: 4:15 PM – 4:30 PM

Wednesday

First Carpool: 3:15 PM – 3:45 PM

Second Carpool: 4:15 PM – 4:30 PM

Please feel free to donate new or used age appropriate books to our library. You may drop off donations to our front office in your convenience.
