Here’s the schedule for the first week of school for 2023-24:
Monday, August 28
K-5 elementary students attend regular schedule school day
6th grade attends regular schedule school day
7th and 8th grades start at 12:30 p.m.
9th grade attends regular school day
Tuesday, August 29
All students attend regular schedule school day
Wednesday, August 30
Late Start Wednesdays begin for all students grades K-12
Grades K-5 begin school day at 9 a.m. and end at usual time of 2:30 p.m.
Middle School students begin school day at 9:20 a.m. and end at usual time of 3:15 p.m.
High School begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at usual time of 3:25 p.m.
Pre-K follows its regular Monday-Thursday schedule

Friday, September 1
No School: Labor Day Weekend

The 2023-24 bus routes for registered riders are posted on the Transportation page on the district website.
Please allow additional time at stops during the first week or two of school as the Transportation team adjusts schedules as needed.

Afterschool Program Availability
There is limited space available at Grandhaven, Memorial and Willamette Elementary Schools for the afterschool Camp Fire program. Families can register here or reach out to their school for more information.
There are some scholarships available for those who qualify. Camp Fire also works with the Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) program, which helps eligible families pay for child care, including registration fees. Find out more here and apply for ERDC.
Middle School Sports
Did you know playing an after-school sport is a great way to keep kids involved with their school? Athletes also tend to perform better academically and suffer less anxiety and depression.
To increase student engagement and promote physical activity, MSD is expanding the middle school athletics program.
Competitive soccer (fall) and basketball (winter) will be offered for both girls and boys, and wrestling will add an after-school club during the fall season.
Visit the “Athletics” page on Duniway and Patton’s websites (found under the “Students” tab) to see the fall offerings and their schedules, register online and more. All students are welcome! No prior playing experience required.
Local Campaign on Fentanyl Awareness
This month, Yamhill County Public Health launched “Friends Fight Fentanyl,” a youth-focused fentanyl prevention campaign.
The research-informed campaign targets teens in simple, approachable language and provides resources to help them navigate situations in their communities.

Reminder: Meal Prices and No-Cost Meal Application
All of our schools, other than Memorial and MHS, qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision, which means meals are free for all students in those schools.
If your child attends Memorial or MHS, you must apply to receive no-cost meals.

Teen Night Out!
September is coming and it’s time for the city library’s school-year program Teen Night Out to resume.
