Medina High School Names January Students of the Month
Congratulations to Medina High School seniors Alexandria Henry and Kaden Rupert, named January Students of the Month.
Alexandria Henry
Alexandria’s teachers describe her as one of the most genuine, sincere, kind, dedicated, and intelligent students they have ever met. She truly is a leader, always willing to step up, take the initiative on new opportunities, and put the needs of others before herself. She understands being a leader is not determined by a title but by how you interact with others.
Her class schedule consists of Advance Placement, Honors, and College Credit Plus courses. Alexandria has earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award Summa Cum Laude her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. She is the Senior Class Student Council President. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, HUDDLE, Spanish Club, the National Student Council Application Committee, and Mr. Medina Committee. Alex is a four-year lettering member of the Medina High School Cross Country Team and a four-year member of the track team and the cheerleading squad. Additionally, she volunteers in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center as a peer tutor.
Alexandria plans to attend college to major in biology, continuing her education to become an optometrist. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Soo Henry.
Kaden Rupert
Kaden is described as a dynamic young man with many interests and achievements. He is goal-oriented and knows hard work and dedication will help him achieve his goals. His leadership skills, friendly smile, and positive energy both in and out of school will serve him well long after leaving Medina High School.
His class schedule consists of Advance Placement and Honors courses. He has earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award Summa Cum Laude his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Kaden is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club and is a HUDDLE team leader. He is a three-year member of the Medina High School Cross Country Team, lettering this school year, and a Chippewa Water Ski Team member. For the past six years, Kaden and his family have participated in “Wreaths Across America,” placing wreaths at the Western Reserve Cemetery and planting flowers at Spring Grove Cemetery for the fallen firemen of Medina.
In his spare time, he has volunteered in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center as a peer tutor and has been working at Dairy Queen since May 2020.
Kaden plans to attend The University of Akron, majoring in biomedical science and continuing his education to become a doctor. He is the son of Daniel and Erin Rupert.

Medina High School Senior Receives Official Appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point
Donald Jason Darrell II (Jason), a remarkable senior at Medina High School, has received a Congressional Nomination, as well as an official appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Jason is the son of Donald Jason Darrell and Gretchen Heiskell Darrell of Medina.
He achieved his Eagle Scout recognition in 2020 through Medina’s Boy Scout Troop 507 and is an active member of his church, First Baptist Medina. He is also a member of the Medina High School cross country and track & field teams, a member of Junior Leadership Medina County, and actively involved in Spanish Club, Encore Pit Band, Symphony Band, HUDDLE, and Link Crew.
Founded in 1802, the United States Military Academy at West Point is the oldest of the five American service academies and educates cadets for commissioning into the United States Army. The central campus is a national landmark and home to historic sites and monuments. United States Military Academy at West Point has produced countless notable alumni, including Ulysses S. Grant, Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, and George S. Patton.
The admissions process is quite strenuous, including essays, Congressional interviews,
physical fitness tests, academic requirements, and medical exams, just to name some of the requirements. During his junior year, Jason began the admissions process and was granted a “letter of assurance” by the Academy before receiving the Congressional Nomination. He received the official appointment on December 18, 2021. In June, Jason will start his time at West Point. “I would like to thank all of my teachers, coaches, family, and friends who have supported me in my quest to achieve this monumental goal,” said Jason.
