Holy Cross Catholic School
From the Desk of Dr. Melissa Wagner
October 20, 2023
This was a busy week as we also had our CYO Golf Tournament to help support our student athletes. Thank you to our CYO team for all their hard work in making this special event happen. Two events in a row is tricky to navigate and you all pulled it off seamlessly. Thank you for your dedication to our school and the CYO program. Words cannot express our gratitude. You help make Holy Cross a better place for our students and entire community.
Next week we have Parent Teacher Conferences. The sign up form is below. Please remember the first semester conferences are required for all parents. At Holy Cross we strongly believe the education process is a partnership between school, family and the Church. If you are unable to attend, please contact your teacher and schedule a time that you are able to meet or have a phone conference. We all want the best Catholic education for our children. That is why it is imperative that we work together.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend enjoying this beautiful Fall weather.
Volunteers Needed for Service Hours😀
If you know anyone that would like service hours for babysitting during conferences on Wednesday evening form 5-7pm and Thursday from 9am-7pm, please reach out to Melissa Wagner at mwagner@holycrosscatholicschool.com.
Dia de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away. It is a time of celebration, reflection, and unity, as we pay our respects to those who have left us. Our school is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and celebrating cultural traditions like Dia de los Muertos is an important way for us to achieve this.
Here's how you can get involved:
Ofrenda Contributions: An "ofrenda" is an altar that is traditionally set up during Dia de los Muertos. We encourage you to contribute to our ofrenda by bringing in items that hold special significance to your family, such as photographs, candles, flowers, or favorite foods of your loved ones. These items will help create a beautiful and diverse display that represents our school community.
Student Artwork: Our students will also be creating artwork related to Dia de los Muertos, which will be displayed near the table. You can take a moment to appreciate the creativity and effort they put into their pieces.
Educational Materials: We will provide educational materials near the table to help everyone understand the significance and traditions of Dia de los Muertos.
Visitation: The Dia de los Muertos table will be set up in the main entrance starting on Wednesday, October 25, and will remain for November 2, 2023. We invite you to visit and spend a moment in reflection, whether it's before or after school that we will host to celebrate this occasion.
By participating in our Dia de los Muertos table, we aim to honor the diversity within our school and create a sense of unity and understanding among our students and families.
If you have any questions or would like to contribute items to the ofrenda, please contact Melissa Wagner at mwagner@holycrosscatholicschool.com. We look forward to sharing this wonderful cultural celebration with you and your family.
Thank you for being a part of our Holy Cross community.
