Character Trait of the Month
Our Character Strong trait for November is GRATITUDE. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
Join us for Math Night at Hoover featuring Mathnasium on Thursday, November 16th, from 5:30-7:00! Come and enjoy math games for all ages and a light pizza dinner. Students and families will have the opportunity to travel to many math games throughout the building and enter for a chance to win math game prizes! If you are considering joining us, please fill out the invitation here. Copies of the invitations are also available at school - ask your student(s) teacher. I hope you can join us this Thursday night of math fun!
Evacuation and LockOUT/LockDOWN Drills: We have successfully reviewed, practiced, and completed 3 out of 5 evacuation (fire) drills. We have also reviewed, practiced, and completed 2 out of 5 lockout drills (threat outside the building) and lockdown drills (threat inside the building). Our students did an amazing job during these drills!
Parent Drop off in the Morning: Thank you again for remembering to have students exit/enter the car's passenger side when dropping off or picking up. Also, we greatly appreciate your support in ONLY TURNING RIGHT when exiting our parking lot at arrival and dismissal times. Doing this allows the line to flow smoothly, quickly, and safely.
Recess Reminders as the Temperature Changes: As the weather gets colder, the strong wind makes the air temp chillier even with the sun shining. Fall temperatures feel different than spring temperatures. Please continue to send students to school with heavy sweatshirts/jackets/coats along with hats/gloves/mittens. Staff supervising recess will ask students to keep their sweatshirts/jackets/coats on while outside when the temperature is below 50 degrees. I appreciate your help with this!

The switch to online report cards means that information is available to review at the conclusion of each trimester. Schools will notify families when the report cards are available to view. Parents, guardians and any person with educational rights to a student will be able to access the student’s report card online.
To ensure access to the report cards when available at the conclusion of Trimester 1, families are encouraged to make sure they have their login information now. Currently, report cards from last school year are available for viewing.

Message from the Nurse's Office
Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.
The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.
Wondering if your child is well enough to come to school? Click here for more information.
If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.
Parent Educator, VSC, and PTO Updates
Parent Educator, Nichol Michaels - November's Parent Press - Your Child's Learning Style
Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher - November Hoover VSC Newsletter
- A message from our Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher:
- Are you hoping to chaperone a field trip for your child's class? Come in and help out in your child's classroom? Volunteer at fun events like dances, carnivals etc? All of these events are super fun to be a part of and volunteer at, but you need to have a Volunteer Application and CRHR completed in order to volunteer. Having these forms filled out right away at the beginning of the year makes you more likely to be selected for volunteer opportunities you are interested in such as field trips because you will get emails about these opportunities right away and your paperwork being processed won't delay you being selected.
- If you have any questions, please email Tina Fletcher at tina.fletcher@ahschools.us. To see current opportunities, click this link.
PTO - Hoover PTO would love to increase participation! ALL parents/guardians are welcome to join our PTO. Please check them out on the Hoover PTO Facebook page and like/follow them to learn more about what's going on! PTO also has a website with additional information. Please bookmark this site and check-in for updates.
Also, please like/follow our Hoover Elementary Facebook page too!
