Veterans Day and More!
Good Afternoon!
Thank you in advance for reading our Falcon Newsletter! I have been so pleased with the amount of support we have received from our parish and school community. Thank you so much for continued prayers and support of our amazing parish school. As I look at the calendar, it is hard to believe that Thanksgiving break is just days away.
We had a great Veterans Day here at SPN. Our middle school students were able to participate in the Midwest City Veterans Day Parade. They finished the parade and marched right into the Family Life Center to set up for our Elementary School Veterans Day Program. We had a great turnout of veterans, active duty military service men and women, families, and friends. The students sang the Armed Forces Medley, as well as other patriotic tunes, and finished with Ray Charles' "Fifty Nifty United States." It was a great day to celebrate the many veterans that are here in our parish and school community, as well as all of those who sacrificed their lives for our great country.
Some THANK YOU's from our busy Veterans Day:
- Thank you to Lyn Marshala for baking over 300 cookies for the cookie reception that preceded the program. There was a great spread of delicious cookies for everyone to enjoy before and after the program.
- Thank you to Mrs. Angie Jones, our music teacher, who has spent months preparing our students for this program.
- Thank you to our teachers who worked with Mrs. Jones to make the program possible.
- Thank you to our parent volunteers who helped decorate the Veterans Day Parade Float.
- Thank you to the middle school students who set up for the program.
- Thank you to Shon Perkins who provided the truck and trailer for our parade float.
- Thank you to our elementary students who did a marvelous job singing and speaking.
- AND... Thank you to our community who came out to enjoy the great day at our school. We love having our community here with us, especially our veterans on Veterans Day!
Our 5th graders were able to take part in Vocations Day put on by the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City at Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Camp in Wellston, OK. It was an excellent retreat day for them, and great exposure to vocation.
Our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser went really well. We will be announcing our top sellers at this weeks Friday Morning Assembly. We will also have the "Game Truck" here tomorrow! The students who sold two or more boxes of chocolate get a chance to visit the Game Truck during the day to enjoy arcade games with their classmates.
PTO will be hosting our annual Spaghetti Dinner on December 3rd after the 11am Mass. We hope you can join us for a meal and fellowship. This is a great way to support our parish school. We will be having a Silent Dessert Auction during the meal, so bring your 'sweet tooth!'
I will be sending out more information and reminders about the Parental Choice Tax Credit at the end of this week. The application window opens on December 1st. It is very important that you apply for the Parental Choice Tax Credit. If you receive the credit, your out of pocket costs for tuition will go down substantially. If you apply and do not receive the credit, you will be eliglbe for other grants and aid offered by the parish. Father Wood and I are committed to helping keep our school an affordable option for you and your family even if you do not receive the tax credit. If you decide not to apply, your tuition will almost certainly increase. Please apply for the Parental Choice Tax Credit. Be on the lookout for an email at the end of this week with more information on the application process.
