Inside Centennial Schools
November 14, 2023
Connecting. Achieving. Preparing.
A Salute to Our Veterans
Students at Blue Heron Elementary, in collaboration with the Circle Pines - Lexington Lions Club, invited family members who served in the military to their school for a special program. Guests included a 100-year-old veteran, and a kindergarten student sang the National Anthem to set the stage for the event. Centerville Elementary students made flags and banners of thanks and hung them outside the school on Main Street.
Congratulations to Mr. Lovdahl, math teacher at Centennial Middle School, named "KS95 Teacher of the Week!" Hutch, a DJ on the afternoon show, paid a visit to the classroom to present the award.
Students Selected to Participate in State Choir Event
Congratulations to the following students for making it into the 9/10 American Choral Directors Associations Honor Choir: Sophia Smith, Zoe Ford, Crow Pinsonnault, Brayden Boesch, Charlie Lovett, Aidan Schulze, Chloe Hatfield, Jaiden Berres, Natalie Jefferson, Brielle Reynolds, and Lilly Yang (not pictured are Charlie Lovett and Lily Yang). Centennial is excited to have 11 students participate in this state choir event!
Showing Academic Promise: National Merit Students Recognized
Of the 1.6 million high school students who take the PSAT exam each year, around 50,000 qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Centennial seniors who scored in the top 3%-4% in the state in the National Merit Scholarship program competition and named Commended Students: Ellery Iserman, Nathan Roe, Katelyn Hamski, and Cameron Sherer. Not pictured: Leann Battikhi and Georgie McManus.
National Merit Semi-Finalists Named
Congratulations to Charles Wills, Isaiah Theisen, and Corynn Harvieux on being named Semi-Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program competition. More than 16,000 high scorers, representing less than one percent of the nation's high school graduating seniors, qualify as Semi-Finalists. These academically talented students advance to the next round to compete for 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million to be awarded in the spring.
