OCTOBER 2023

Hello everyone and welcome to the month of October! We can’t believe how fast the first month of school flew by! This month students will be partaking in a Halloween fair on Halloween day. This is run by our grade 5 students and runs from period 2-8. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school, but a reminder that we will not accept costumes that depict gore or violence. There will be a parade that parents are welcome to in the gym starting at 2pm! A reminder that there will be no school on November 1st (the day after Halloween), as this is a PD day.

We also want to remind everyone that early dismissal this year happens on the first Thursday of the month and is at 12:25pm!

This year report card comments are going to look different in our division. Teachers will only be writing comments for literacy and numeracy subjects, with suggestions for improvement, goals, and celebrations.

A reminder that an account has been opened at the bottle depot where families can drop off bottles any time, and the funds can go towards the school. Ask to donate them to "Sifton School Parent Council" when you drop them off.

Parent council is also running a Lovable Labels fundraiser. Keep your kids' things out of the lost and found bin with Lovable Labels! It's fast and easy to label backpacks, lunch containers, water bottles, gym shoes, uniforms, books and so much more!. Click on this link to get started:

The apple fundraiser is on. The last day to order is tomorrow (October 11). Orders can only be accepted through the online ordering system (same system as hot lunch) https://www.studentquickpay.com/brsd/

If you have ordered hot lunch and you child is absent, their lunch will be donated unless you contact the school by 12:00pm to make other arrangements. Unfortunately we can not offer refunds for any reason. Thank you for your understanding.
