Hello Dear Ones,
As our beloved mentor Dianne Connelly says, "We're here now, we're here together, and that won't always be so. What are the meaningful conversations to have in the meantime?"
I say... let us have meaningful conversations about life, about nature and creativity, about love and transformative leadership, about silence, grief and letting go. I say... let's talk about ways to tenderly listen and lead with resilience versus resistance, shame and blame. I say... let's talk about what's meaningful.
How do you know what's actually meaningful versus tending another thing on the to-do list simply out of habit?
Let me tell you about Shanita. Shanita is a non-profit executive with plenty on her plate but less now. We've worked through layers together over the years through coaching.
- Navigating change as she cared for aging parents and their recent passing
- Navigating change in family dynamics, communication with siblings and subordinates at work
- Navigating change to build confidence, creativity and authentic leadership
- Navigating change in new jobs and new leadership roles within several organizations
- Navigating change as she faced various health challenges and aging within herself
- Navigating change to embrace creative retirement and a brave bold move to another country!
Shanita is a great example of one of my favorite clients! What's interesting to me/us is how powerful coaching has been for her. It's a game-changer for her and those like Shanita who have built coaching conversations into their lives and made coaching a non-negotiable part of their transformation journey; life and leadership.
I love supporting leaders, seekers and dreamers within the helping fields of healthcare, human resources, non-profits, science, arts, and small business. Even more so, I love supporting professionals who invest over many years in themselves and those they serve because they recognize--- neither function well without replenishment.
We all MUST recharge. We all have practices to renourish, recycle and reflect. Without these, we won't function. Coaching is a courageous conversation designed to help you function, flourish and feel free; helping you find yourself when you're lost in the forest of life, and help you manage your creative energy more mindfully.
Consider another metaphor.... Coaching is a mirror--- designed to help you see what you can't see alone, help you say what you won't say aloud, and help you bravely do what you won’t do solo. None of us can see our blindspots.
Now... in normal life, we'd do just fine not looking at ourselves. A stray hair or crumb in the beard might go unnoticed. Unbothered, we'd function just fine.
The reality is, the lifestyle most of us live includes having normalized high levels of stress, buried under caverns of fear, rivers of resistance and hidden grief. If a stray hair or crumb in the beard would go unnoticed before, this normalization is akin to walking around without a face. Except no one recognizes that it's missing, not even you. However--- everyone, and you, can FEEL the disconnect.
How would you know you are MIA (missing in action), if you don't look?
The more "blind" we are to what's missing, the more stressed we become, the more resistant we become, the more distant and accusatory we become, the more short on patience we become, the less access to ideas to cope and create we have, and the more lost, lonely and anxious we feel.
To free ourselves, we need a mirror to see that we're missing, to see where we are snagged, and see where in the forest of life we actually are in the first place.
If you are willing to look, you will be grateful. If you willing to share me with your community at work, within HR and within your family and friends circles, I'm most grateful. Thank you in advance.
The reality is folks who are MIA have a harder time seeing through the noise. They are TOO BUSY to pause. Kindly... take a moment. Make life easy. Share me. SCHEDULE A CALL. Coaching can help make the world a better place.
There's lots of ways to see through to our true selves, to see through beyond the noise and busy, to see through to what matters most. Coaching is one way through.
Either way... change starts with you. Here to help you see through. Thank you.
Love and light, Annelies
