5th Grade Band Concert
🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Dear Band Families,
The Lakeland Elementary 5th Grade Band Concert is coming up on Thursday, December 14th at 6:30 pm. The concert will be held in the Lakeland Gym. Students should arrive in the Lakeland Band Room by 6:00 pm. The concert is mandatory for all band students and is worth a very large portion of their grade.
For this concert, students should wear nice clothes. No jeans or tennis shoes are allowed (unless
tennis shoes are the only shoes your child has). Students can wear khaki or some other type of dress pants, a polo or button up shirt/tie, or any type of dressy shirt. They may also wear a skirt or dress if it is knee length or lower. If the dress is sleeveless or has spaghetti straps, a nice sweater or jacket of some kind must be worn over it. Everyone will need a Christmas themed hat of some kind (Santa, reindeer antlers, elf hat, etc) to put on for our last few songs.
Lastly, on the day of the concert, the students will miss their morning classes to rehearse in the gym. They will be back in time for lunch. I would suggest sending your child to school
with a water bottle and snack that day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me using the information below. Thank you! See you at the Concert! I can’t wait to celebrate your child’s success with you!

Food Drive
Lakeland Elementary School held a food drive October 23 – 27 to benefit the Branch Area Food
Pantry in Coldwater. Over the course of five days, the 4 th and 5 th grade students and staff
brought in more than 700 pounds of food, and $711.25 in monetary donations. These
donations were used to help with the Holiday Food Distribution Event on November 18. We
would like to say a big THANK YOU to all that helped make the food drive a success!

Hungry Howie's Pizza Night
Lakeland is having a Hungry Howie’s Night on Wednesday, December 20th.
We thank you in advance for your support.
Mr. Dibert's class won the pizza party for November!
Notes from Mr. Smoker
I am asking for your help in having your child wear the appropriate shoes for PE class. The gym floor at Lakeland requires students to wear gym shoes in order to participate. I realize it can be difficult to remember which day they have PE due to it being on every 4th day of instruction but they also have a locker available where they can keep a pair of shoes. Any help on your part would be greatly appreciated.
Change of clothes
Accidents happen – bathroom accidents, spills in the lunch room, falling in the mud on the playground…..Please consider keeping a full change of clothes in your child’s locker for times like these. It will save you from having to drive out to bring a change of clothes, and your child will be able to change into dry clothes sooner.
Illnesses
When your child is staying home sick, please let us know what symptoms he/she is experiencing. We work closely with the health department and need to report the number of absences each week for various illnesses, such as the flu, strep throat, stomach viruses, sore throats, fevers, etc. This is why we ask what sort of symptoms your child has.
Colder weather = wear jackets!
Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Our students go outside daily for recess and with the cooler temperatures, it is important that your child has a jacket or coat to wear. Hats, gloves or mittens, and winter boots will be needed soon as well.
Inclement weather and 2 hour Delays
- You will receive an automated call if school is canceled or delayed, due to the weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please be sure that your current phone number is listed in Skyward.
- Please note: if there is a 2-hour delay, school will start at 10:35; doors will open at 10:15. Breakfast will not be served at school on 2-hour delay days.
- Delays and cancellations will be broadcast on local radio stations or TV news stations.
