Please see the info below and check the Event Fliers section for more info regarding the College and Career Fair!
- A College and Career Fair will be held at the Menard Center on Thursday October 10th with Redington students being bussed to the location and attending the event from 10 to 11:30 am. If interested, students can pick up more information and permission slips in room 101 from Mrs. Jellich or Mr. Allen.
And more on the SAT/PSAT:
- SAT test will be administered to all 12th graders on Thursday October 24th . The test is free to all Seniors and is a good gauge on student's preparation towards post-secondary academic performance. It is not required but is recommended for students to take as their score may positively impact their post-secondary placement in college, the military and/or the world of work.
- The PSAT test will be administered for all 11th and 10th grade students on Thursday October 23rd. This test is a practice version of the SAT test that is offered to all 12th grade students. There is no charge for this test.
- Practice tests for both the SAT and PSAT tests have been posted in student's "Class of ..." Google classrooms for them to look over to see what the tests may look like.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Brad Allen, the Graduation Coach at Redington at (907)864-5434 or at bradley.allen@matsuk12.us

TIPS AND TRICKS
The Benefits of Limiting Screen Time
Or review this summary of the article:
"There are many wellness benefits to cutting down on screen time, including these five:
1. Improve your physical health.
You know that physical activity is good for your health, but devices use could reduce your exercise time. Maintaining healthy habits can be hard when you spend lots of time using screens. Benefits include, preventing obesity and conditions related to excess weight, freeing more time for exercise or play, increasing sleep, reducing mindless snacking.
2. Free up time to have fun playing and exploring (indoors or outdoors)!
3. Make in-person, face-to-face social connections without having to compete with a screen.
4. Boost your mood.
Depression and anxiety can cause a person to withdraw and isolate themselves from others. Engaging in social activities helps you connect with others and reduce symptoms of these conditions.
5. Build and strengthen community.
Being part of the community around you and feeling connected to others benefits your overall health.
While technology is a great tool, it also can hinder your wellness and make you feel disconnected from those around you. Taking a break from devices frees up more time to be active and enjoy time with loved ones. Why not give it a try?
Register for Slim Your Screen Time — a free, at-home, self-guided program that is designed to help you improve your health by reducing screen time. Join the program at any time."
