Hello Wildcat Families!
Between opening weekend for MLB and the longer daylight hours, it is really starting to feel like spring. Although it was a very mild winter, the transition to warmer days and more sunlight can't help but bring a smile to your face and boost spirits all around.
This month we take the opportunity to recognize our paraprofessional staff for all they do day in and day out to support our students. With paraprofessional appreciation day on April 5th, please join me in thanking our all-star support staff:

Student Council Bake Sale Success
The Student Council Bake Sale raised a whopping $686! The students chose to donate 100% of the money raised to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund through Go Fund Me. The fund will help vulnerable communities obtain access to food, shelter, water, medical services, and education. Thank you to all of the students and parents who helped sell, as well as everyone who bought treats to help support a great cause.
Cub Scouts
We want boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade to join us for an incredible adventure! Attend campfires, overnight trips, and other outdoor fun! Build your own race car, sail boat, or rocketship! Make new friends! See the attached flyer for sign-up information and more!
WCASD Tutoring & Mentoring Launch
Parents and Community Members, we have heard your call for action. You have said stop talking and act, so let’s go!
Please join the WCASD Team and Dr. Una Martin, Interim Director of Equity, for an informational meeting on April 16 from 2:30PM to 4:30PM at Peirce Middle School-located at 314 Burke Rd, West Chester, PA 19380.
The purpose of this meeting is to mobilize parents and community members to strategize the launch for a Zoom mentoring and tutoring initiative for K-12 students. Come prepared to participate in the discussions and plans to create action steps for the implementation in the fall of 2023.
Important Attendance Reminders
First, I want to thank you for all your continued efforts to make this school year a great one! I would also like to take a moment to share a brief reminder regarding attendance and absences as we head into the fall and winter months.
Students are required to attend school during the days and hours that we are in session. If your student is unable to attend school, a note must be provided for a reasonable absence. If the absence is necessary for medical reasons and you would like to provide a doctor’s note, the note must include the following:
- · Medical reason for absence
- · Dates excused from school
If the note only includes that a parent/guardian spoke to the physician’s office and guidance was given, the note will be converted to a parent note.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me or to our nurse, Kellie Wallace at kwallace@wcasd.net.
Additionally, if you haven't already, please read the attached letter from our attendance secretary, Mrs. Johannesen, on important reminders about attendance procedures for WTE and the West Chester Area School District.
