Principal's Message
Dear Thomas Families,
At Thomas Elementary, we have a great PTO! “PTO” stands for “Parent-Teacher Organization”, and it’s a way for families to communicate and collaborate with the school. Getting involved with the PTO helps the school, gives families a sneak peek into some school events, and is a fun way to meet other parents!
Throughout the school year, there are three “General Meetings”. At these meetings, all Thomas Elementary families are invited to attend. The meeting will be led by the parents on the Executive Board of the PTO, and will also include a school report from me, our assistant principal Mrs. Axelband, and a teacher representative. You’ll learn about the plans that PTO has for this school year (like Tiger Trek, fundraising, Teacher Appreciation, and more!), and ways that you can get involved. Sometimes, getting involved means volunteering at the school, but there are other ways to support the PTO outside of school hours if you aren’t able to come during the day.
The first General Meeting of the year is next Tuesday, September 12 at 6:00 in the school library. Childcare will be provided in the gym, so please feel free to bring your child(ren). Hope to see you there!
Go Tigers,
Melissa Garris
JIM "BASKETBALL" JONES IS COMING TO THOMAS!
On Thursday, September 14, a special visitor is coming to Thomas Elementary. Jim “Basketball” Jones delivers positive messages to elementary students about making responsible and kind choices. He has written several books, and will offer them for sale at the assembly. See this flier for more information about the books available for purchase.
TIGER TREK
Tiger Trek is the PTO's BIGGEST fundraiser of the year! Our goal this year is to raise $16,000!!! Be on the lookout for a Kick-Off Letter and QR sticker with information on how to register your student and start sharing! The fundraiser runs from September 8th until September 24th.
The event will be held on Friday, September 22nd during recess. We need volunteers that day to help with the run/walk and obstacle course. Volunteer Here
