Morning Arrival
We want to make sure that our morning dropoff runs as smoothly as possible. Morning dropoff occurs during 7:05-7:25, and we offer two locations for families to use when driving through to drop their child/ren off unless you are a PreK student; then, they are dropped off only in the gym area. Kinder - Fifth grade can be dropped off behind the gym or by the Kimbro. We have adults at both locations waiting to greet your child each morning. Please know that starting on Monday, August 28th, we will close all exterior doors promptly at 7:25, and you will be asked to drive around to the front, park, and walk your child inside to check them in for the day.
Here are a few things each family can do in order to expedite dropoff:
-Make sure your student has their items for the day in their hand so they are ready to jump out of the car once it comes to a complete stop.
-If you have an older child who can open their own door, please have them do that once the car is at a complete stop.
-The Kimbro dropoff area typically has a significantly shorter line, so please utilize that area to ensure your child will be in the school by 7:25 a.m.
Thank you all for working so hard to get your child/ren here daily! We love seeing their smiling faces.

2023-2024 School Reminders
Deliveries
Except in emergencies, delivery of messages or packages to students will not be allowed during instructional time. A parent may leave a forgotten lunch for the student to pick up from the front office during a passing period or lunch.
Delivery Services for Student Meals
As part of enhanced safety at campuses, beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, all Hays CISD campuses will no longer accept deliveries from meal delivery services or restaurants for student lunches. And, campuses will no longer have drop-off tables for meals. Parents may still bring outside food for their children if they plan to deliver the meals directly to their child's designated lunch period. All guests are required to follow existing safety protocols and check in with ID at the front office.
STUDENT ID'S
The district's dress code includes the proper display of the student's campus identification card (ID). All students are expected to wear the campus-issued SmartTag ID while on campus. More information on SmartTag is here https://www.hayscisd.net/smarttag. If the students misplaces/loses their ID, the replacement cost for the ID is $5.00. The front office will no longer be allowed to issue a sticker ID for students.
Everyone on campus is required to wear their school ID visibly. Students were provided with a free ID at the beginning of the school year. All ID's provided after that will cost $5.00.
ATTENDANCE
If your student is absent and did not go to the doctor and therefore does not have a doctor's note, the parent note for their absence must be received here in our office within 5 days. After the 5th day, it will be counted as an unexcused absence with no exceptions. You can email the note to KES.Attendance@hayscisd.net or have it hand delivered by the student or them. If your student has a doctor's appointment, please arrive with ample time to sign your student out for the day. We will no longer call a student out of class while you are in route to the school. Students that arrive to school past 7:40 will need to be walked in to the front office.
Student Absence Policy Change in the Works
Pending Board approval in August, Hays CISD will implement a new policy affecting students who are absent without notice and unreachable for more than five school days. According to proposed changes to Policy FEA (LOCAL), any student who has had no contact, participation, or has not met the minimum criteria to be marked present for five consecutive school days shall be withdrawn from school. Hays CISD will make every effort to contact absent students at risk of being withdrawn to help them return to school. However, students who are not responsive or locatable will be subject to being withdrawn under the new policy, requiring parents to complete the enrollment process again and provide updated proof of residence should they wish to re-enroll.
