Family Edition
Principal's Post
Hello Patriot Families!
We have hit the midway point of Q2, and time is flying by for us here at school. We have several exciting events ahead including club service projects, Back the Bell Nights, concerts, sporting events, winter pep rally, and more! I am so proud of our students and the work that they are doing at school (and before and after).
Tomorrow is World Kindness Day, and our counselors designed a special way to celebrate by asking the students to wear yellow or a Mr. Rogers style cardigan! Our students at LBMS are so kind, and my biggest hope is that we can continue to foster kindness by showing one another kindness each and every day.
One way we can foster kindness is to combat bullying. Our counselors and family school coordinator will host an educational night on the effects of bullying, and how we handle it here at LB, as well as ways we can prevent it from happening in the first place. Please see the flyer for the family night below, and join us if you can!
Thank you for all you do to support your students and our LB family. Please reach out to your student's teachers, counselors, or our administration if you need anything.
Note: The next Patriot Pride will come out AFTER Thanksgiving Break (11/26) since the week after this one is only a two-day week.
Have a great week!
Patriot Proud,
Kelsey Walker, LBMS Principal

A Note from Our Swim Coaches
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
Thank you for your patience as we sorted out the Middle School Championship Meet thins year. Usually, there are two Championship meets in the area. One usually falls on a date in conflict with a high school meet; the other usually is held on another date and that's the one we go to. However, this year, that second one will not be held due to scheduling issues, so we will attend the first one. Here is the lowdown:
Date & Time: Saturday, Dec 2, 2023, at the Kingsport Aquatic Center (1820 Meadowview Parkway, Kingsport, TN) Warm ups are scheduled for 12:30 PM, Tentative start time is 1:40 PM (I will have a "Be There" time once entries have all been sent in).
Who: All middle school swimmers and divers.
Special considerations: This meet and a high school meet have been scheduled for the same date. The high school meet is in Christiansburg, VA, and Coach Chris will be there. Therefore, Coach Meaghan will be leading the team at the Middle School Championship! Coach Meaghan has a wealth of swimming and coaching experience and will do a great job.
Transportation:
However, since Coach Meaghan cannot drive the activity bus, parents will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from the meet for their children. Parents may drive other people's children only if they arrange it with other parents. We will let you know what time to be there as soon as we get the warm up schedule from the meet host.
TRAINING OVER THANKSGIVING BREAK
With the Championship Meet now occurring after Thanksgiving, we will need to continue training in order to be prepared to swim fast and dive well! Here is the schedule for the week of Thanksgiving:
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday (Nov 20-21-22): Regular swimming practice schedules; Divers check with Coach Jessica.
Thursday (Nov 23): No practices. Enjoy the day with your family and friends!
Friday (Nov 24): Optional swimming practice for those in town. 6:05-7:35 PM (no dryland). No diving practice, as Coach Jessica will be out of town.
The next week (November 27-December 1), we will have regular practices.
TEAM PICTURES
We will take team pictures on Wednesday, November 29, at 5:35 PM at Freedom Hall. These pictures will be available to all families to download for free! We should have our team tshirts by then, so everyone is to wear theirs! There will no be make-ups, so be on time!
Speaking of pictures: The middle schools have asked me to take pics of the swimmers & divers at the meets for the yearbook. Obviously, I will be coaching at that time, sooooo, if any parents take some good pics, please pass them on to me and I will forward them to the schools. Thanks!
TEAM AWARDS DESSERT
I am working with the schools to schedule a team awards dessert for after the season. This is a fun social activity where everyone brings a dessert to share and we celebrate the team's accomplishments. (I'm trying to avoid conflicts with band, choir, orchestra, and tai-chi performances!) More info to come!!
