Message from Mrs. Moore
Dear Parents,
The new school year is off and running, it has been a roller coaster of a start. The ups and downs of our new Covid reality has certainly made for an interesting first month. We are trying to keep our focus on student learning, establishing routines, and encouraging the love of learning through student inquiry.
We would like to welcome our new Patriot families. We look forward to building a relationship throughout the school year. Our new PTO has been busy planning many great things for the new school year. Please watch for PTO news and additional school information in the weekly Wednesday, Red Communication Folder.
We continue to navigate the daily Covid challenges and the changes in district protocols. At this time, we are limiting visitors and volunteers on campus, but will revisit as cases decline.
We are seeing a significant increase of Covid cases and quarantines in our building. When a child tests positive, we send out a telephone and email message informing the families of students in the class that a student in the class has tested positive. At school we have increased our cleaning, encouraged social-distancing, and clean air from outside is filtered into our classrooms hourly.
Please, make sure you use our student health screener each day to determine if you should send your child to school (screener link). If you are ever in doubt, please call and ask for our school nurse. We strongly encourage all staff and children to wear a mask. Our goal is to create a safe learning environment for all students.
Despite all the challenges this year may bring, we are excited to spend another year providing a world-class IB education to your children.
We encourage families to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and visit our school website for current information, school highlights, and more.
Thank you,
Mrs. Moore

Learner Profile of the Month: Communicator
What does it mean to be a communicator?
The IB Learner profile aims to develop students who are communicators. Students who are communicators understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.
How Can Parents Help To Develop Students Who Are Communicators At Home?
- Talk about the day's activities
- Explore other forms of communication in addition to speaking.
- Talk with your child about the books you read together.
- Talk with your child about the TV programs and videos you watch together.
- Ask questions about what they are saying, ask for explanations.
Guidance Corner
Hello! My name is Tanya Keene and I am your school's counselor. I have such a wonderful role at Pine View Elementary and I love getting to know all the students and watching them grow.
At Pine View, we've been on a wonderful journey learning about how mindfulness can help us focus and stay calm when our brains and bodies react with big emotions.
Mindful Mondays is my weekly news show segment, where students learn new ways to be mindful or practice what they already know.
In addition to the news show, I will also be seeing your students once a month to provide lessons using the Safer Smarter Kids curriculum. The curriculum is designed for students to learn about staying safe and making good choices.
While I'm not able to provide counseling or therapy at school, I can provide individual emotional support to students and be a person they can talk to if they need help. Please don't hesitate to reach out by phone 813-794-0607 or email tkeene@pasco.k12.fl.us if you need my assistance.
