LSA welcomed yet another college recruiter, adding to the growing list of institutions vying for a chance to engage with the talented students at Longleaf.

In our ongoing commitment to provide students with diverse college options and opportunities, LSA has become a sought-after destination for college recruiters hailing from across the state and the nation. The recent, unanticipated visit by a college recruiter further emphasized the school's reputation for nurturing exceptional academic talents.

Dr. Christopher Withers, representing Louisburg College, arrived on campus with great enthusiasm to connect with LSA students. As LSA continues to maintain its status as a preferred destination for college recruiters, it is evident that the school is on the right path to offer its students a wealth of opportunities in their pursuit of higher education.

We will be accepting Off-Campus Lunch Pass applications October 11th to October 19th. This is a great opportunity for eligible 11th and 12th grade students to enjoy off-campus lunch privileges. Please note that eligibility criteria and guidelines for the Off-Campus Lunch Pass are outlined in the application form. It's essential to review and adhere to these guidelines.

After the 19th, we will not be able to accept any more applications or payments for the Off-Campus Lunch Pass. So, please make sure to submit your forms and payments by this deadline if you wish to participate.

10/26 -TESTING (PreACT and PSAT) COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY

10/27 - BSU Hosts Fall Festival 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM

On October 26th, there will be standardized testing for 10th and 11th grade students at Longleaf School. All 10th graders are required to attend school on this day. Additionally, 11th grade students who have signed up for the test should also come to school. For 9th and 12th grade students (excluding 11th graders not taking the PSAT), this day will serve as a community service opportunity. After the testing is complete, students will be allowed to leave. Please note that during the testing period, students will not be permitted to use their cell phones or electronic devices.

Regarding the PreACT, the estimated time for the standard administration session is 3 hours and 10 minutes, with additional time for students with accommodations. Parents and students can find more information about the PreACT test at https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/preact.html. Students are encouraged to bring their own calculators if they have them, and approved calculator guidelines can be found on the ACT website: https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/ACT-calculator-policy.pdf.

As for the PSAT, the estimated time for this test is 2 hours and 14 minutes, including one break. Students with accommodations may have extended testing times. The PSAT/NMSQT is valuable for identifying the skills and knowledge needed for the SAT exam and for identifying candidates for the National Merit Scholarship. Notably, this year's PSAT/NMSQT will be administered online, and the necessary software will be uploaded to LSA Chromebooks. Students using their own computers will use LSA's Chromebooks for testing.

To prepare for the PSAT, students can find resources and practice tests on the official PSAT website. Additionally, there are guidelines on what to bring (and what not to bring) to the PSAT, including information on calculator use.

Grades

**Only Juniors and Seniors are permitted to go off campus for lunch and have a student parking permit.

School attendance will always be of significant priority here at Longleaf School of the Arts. Not only is school attendance mandated by law, but we pride ourselves on being able to help our students prepare for college and the outside world through our 16-day force failure policy, which states that "in order for a student to receive credit for a class at Longleaf School of the Arts, the student must not be marked absent for more than sixteen (16) days per year." Please be aware that the school will send home letters for all documented absences, whether excused or otherwise noted. While we understand that circumstances beyond our control occur, we ask that you provide documentation to support any absences your student may have throughout the school year.
