May 20, 2023
Greetings!
We had another great Cliftondale this week! Please review important information for the upcoming week(s):
GEORGIA MILESTONES TEST ADMINISTRATION & TEST RESULTS- We are officially finished with our 2023 test administration of Georgia Milestones. We appreciate your support throughout the testing administration. With the exception of fourth grade and any student that had to complete a makeup test, results are beginning to populate. The Georgia Department of Education posts student Milestones results to the State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) for parents to access. These scores will be released on July 31, 2023. All FCS families have access to SLDS inside of their Infinite Campus parent portal. Fulton County's official process for sharing student Milestones results with parents is via the SLDS portal in June, after the public release of final data.
Current Georgia law and State Board of Education Rule does require state test results for promotion to the next grade in certain circumstances. Below are the specifics as required by law:
*Third grade students must score “on grade level” in reading on the Georgia Milestones English/Language Arts Assessment to be promoted.
* Fifth and Eighth grade students must score “on grade level” in reading and in “developing” or higher in Mathematics to be promoted
Teachers will begin contacting the parent of any third or fifth grade student that DID NOT meet these requirements. These students will also receive a summer school invitational letter to receive targeted instruction in reading and math. These students will also retest at the end of July. Fulton County WILL NOT offer the opportunity to retest to students who failed a spring EOG assessment but are not enrolled in summer learning. The reading retest dates are July 6th and 7th. The math retest is July 5th. Students attending summer learning will be here at Cliftondale along with students from Stonewall Tell and A. Phillip Randolph Elementary School. If you have questions or concerns, please contact our school’s testing coordinator, Mrs. Long at longt@fultonschools.org- FIFTH GRADE FIELD TRIP: Our fifth grade students will be attending a field trip on Monday, May 22nd. Please be mindful that students will return AFTER SCHOOL HOURS. Please make sure to review all correspondences provided by 5th grade teachers.
