Canyon Creek Elementary
August 16, 2022

Each year we are blown away by your generosity when it comes to our gift card drive for our hardworking custodians and cafeteria workers. Please consider donating this year so that we can help make their holidays special.
Student Council will send 4 Candy Cane Grams home with your student on Friday, December 1st to purchase if you wish. Please send them back by Friday, December 8th, filled out with $1 attached to each one that you would like to purchase. If you need more, please email your child’s teacher and the specific amount that you need to request more. If you want it to be a surprise for your child, you can send them in a sealed envelope labeled with Candy Grams.
Students in grades 4-6 will receive a grade specific Two Bee Study Word List in their Friday packets today, along with the School Spelling Bee Word List. Once students master their grade level list, they should move on to the School Spelling Bee Word List.
Classroom spelling bees will take place on Monday, November 27 at 8:15. The top two students from every class will advance to the CCE Spelling Bee that will take place on Tuesday, December 5th at 8:30 in the library. Questions? Please contact billie.hobbs@risd.org
Spinal screening for 5th grade girls will take place November 28th.
3rd-6th Grade Save the Date
Please make sure that you are at school for our Fall Interim Test. This test is adaptive to the needs of the students and serves as a great practice for the STAAR test. Not only do students have the chance to practice testing day procedures, so does the staff! We look forward to our students being able to show what they know. This test will provide teachers and staff detailed data that we can use to continue to serve our students.
We had an amazing week of guidance lessons in grades PK-2nd grade. In K-2nd grade we talked about gratitudee. In PK we discussed personal space.
In grades K-5 we will be doing Personal Safety lessons the week of 11/17 and 12/3. Please be on the look out for a permission slip to return to school by 11/27. Below the permission form is attached.
6th grade parents- please look at the 6th grade smore for updates on dates and information. I will continue to update it as I get more information. Please remember that Magnet Junior High Applications are due by December 1st.
If you need anything at all please feel free to contact me at kara.cooney@risd.org or 469-593-6517.
