Hello North Syracuse Central School District Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff!

It has been another week of change here in the NSCSD. On June 16, New York State reduced COVID-19 restrictions for high school graduation ceremonies held outdoors. Our plan was to have two ceremonies on June 25 for our Seniors. However, with the change in State guidance, we have reviewed our plan and will be combining the ceremonies into one at 5:00 pm on June 25, at the Bragman Stadium at C-NS High School, allowing our graduates and families to all be together. Lakeshore Road Elementary School third-grade student Mr. Jack Williams earned the honor of being his school's Principal for a day! He was the top fundraiser for Lakeshore Road Elementary School's Walkathon prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and was just recently able to cash in his prize.

Good luck to all the student athletes from Cicero-North Syracuse High School who have been nominated for recognition in the All-CNY Athletics Awards. The following students are among those selected for possible Athlete of the Year honors in the selected sport:

• Cross Country: Kate Putman and Matthew LeClair
• Swimming and Diving: Kaitlyn Carroll
• Field Hockey: Alexia Wagner
• Volleyball: Brooke Segars, Trace LaRobardiere and Brandon Millias
• Basketball: Jessica Cook
• Softball: Cassidy Ormond
• Track and Field: Kate Putman

The last NSJHS Talent Show was May 5, 2019. The show was ironically entitled, The Final Masquerade. Cruel joke, Universe. Cruel joke. Over two years have passed, and we are proud to present another junior high show! Tonight, Friday June 18th at 7pm, the NSJHS Talent Show will premiere on the 4D Productions website and on YouTube! The 2020-2021 school year has been anything but normal but this year's seniors had the opportunity to embrace the craziness on June 11 at their senior ball. Students had a beautiful evening for one of their final traditions and took full advantage of the photo opps at the Downtown Syracuse Marriott. Families also submitted pictures taken at various locations around Syracuse and Cicero, like Hanover Square, Williams Beach, Thorndon Park and of course, right at home. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos!

The Character Education Team at Smith Road Elementary School (J. Bennett, K. DeSpirito, L. Marzullo, J. McCurdy, S. Garrett, K. Norton, M. Harrington) helped knock down hunger through their school’s "Domino Day" collection event. Students and staff collected an astounding two THOUSAND boxes of cereal and raised nearly $300 in donations for the North Syracuse Christian Church Food Pantry.

Because this school year has been so different, it has been challenging to get new photos for our District website at www.nscsd.org and other publications. So...we need your help! We would love to share your photos of at home school environments. If you're willing to share, please send your high quality images using the link below. We'll be using your photos in this newsletter and other publications throughout the school year. Additionally, high resolution, horizontal photos will be considered for the District website. If you'd like to share pictures, please email them to our Communications Officer, Laurie Cook at lcook@nscsd.org or click here to upload them.

Stacy Peffley, mom of Dylan and Tyler Peffley, two remote second-grade students, shared the pictures above and below of her boys and their classmates. The students are pictured taking part in beach day, Memorial Day and rock star day activities for their remote class with Miss Earle.

Ms. Peffley shared the photos and said, "Miss Earle is the true rock star!!! The group picture is a remote class picnic she organized for our students this past weekend and both Mrs. McCarthy and Miss Earle were there! An outstanding substitute for our teacher out on maternity leave, she has worked so sincerely and diligently to connect to her students, make the end of the year fun and engaging, and set the expectation that these second graders have what it takes to rock third grade in the fall! We are so grateful for her and her enthusiasm and commitment to teaching!"
