Food Service Staff Earns Perfect Score!
Congratulations to Oakview Elementary School Food Service team staff for earning a perfect score of 100 on a recent inspection from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. “Miss Rena” and her team are the best!
Oakview Students Perform Well Above District
Spring SC Ready scores are in and once again, Oakview students are scoring well above the district! The new SC Ready tests 3rd – 5th grade students on the state English/Language Arts and Math curriculum standards and was administered for the first time in spring 2016. Students scored at one of four levels:

Teacher Workdays and Parent Conferences
As a reminder, there are two teacher workdays (NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS) scheduled for Thursday and Friday (October 13-14). If you have not already done so, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a parent conference.

Fall is an exciting and busy time for Oakview families! We appreciate all of our families and friends who pledged money for our Boosterthon Fun Run! We are collecting payments via cash or check or by online payment at www.funrun.com. Thank you for your support of Oakview Elementary PTA!
The Fall Bookfair and Red Ribbon Week are coming up October 24 - 28. Also, the Hootenanny Fall Festival is coming soon on November 4.

Box Tops - Deadline for submitting is 10/21/16
Here are some important details to remember:
- Put your child’s name, teacher’s name, and grade on the bag or envelope - each class will be given individual credit. The classes with the most Box Tops will receive a special treat.
- Make sure all box tops are neatly trimmed on the black, dotted line before submitting
- Check each box top for a visible, valid expiration date. We don’t get credit for expired box tops.
Reflections - Deadline Extended!
Great news! The Reflections deadline has been extended! Deadline for entries are Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18. Entries will be collected before and after school in the cafeteria. The collection times are 7:30-8:15am and 2:30-3:15pm.
This year’s theme is “What is Your Story?”. This is a free arts program and students may submit as many entries in as many different categories as they choose. Each entry must be accompanied by a student entry form. All rules for each category and entry forms can be accessed at www.scpta.org.

Bookaneer Book Fair - WHERE BOOKS ARE THE TREASURE!
Please plan to join us at the Fall Book Fair. Opening day is Monday, October 24 and the fair will continue through Friday, October 28. This is a wonderful opportunity to build personal and classroom libraries. All proceeds from the Book Fair benefit our Media Center, so please consider supporting this important event!

Oakview Families...MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! The 14th Annual Hootenanny is on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4 from 4:30 - 9:00 p.m. We will have rides, games, food and prizes...OH MY!
Would you like to help out by folding and fluffing the paper flowers? We will be folding the tissue paper on Wednesday, October 19 and Thursday, October 20 in the cafeteria after drop off. The dates for fluffing are Tuesday, November 1 and Wednesday, November 2 in the cafeteria after drop off. You don't have to have any experience and it's a lot of fun. Come and join us!
We will once again have the Basket Raffle. If you, or someone you know, has a business and would like to donate toward the raffle, please email us at oeshoot@gmail.com.
