A Note from Mrs. Williams
It was a busy and great week! Our 1st graders got to experience the great outdoors with a field trip to the NISD Outdoor Learning Center. They had an amazing time! Dr. Foust, our awesome superintendent, also visited our school this week and was so impressed with the great things happening at Schluter! Today, we also hosted our teacher team vs student team UBC (Ultimate Book Challenge) competition, and our students won! Our student UBC team worked so hard this year by reading several books throughout the year and having to answer comprehension questions about them. We are so proud of their hard work!
There are many things coming up soon! Monday, registration opens for the 23-24 school year! I can't believe it is already time to start preparing for next year, and we want to make sure we have the right staffing for all of our students who will join us next year. Please be sure to review the information below and get your student registered for next school year!
For our future Spurs beginning Kindergarten next year, we are hosting Kindergarten Round-Up on April 25th! If you or a neighbor/friend have a student ready to start Kindergarten in the fall, we'd love to see you there! Please see the information below.
We are also getting excited about celebrating the many accomplishments of our Spurs during our end-of-year awards ceremonies during the last week of school. We've added the schedule below so that you can plan to attend. We'd love to see you there as we honor our students!
Finally, I need your help! Teacher Appreciation Week is fast-approaching, and I'd love your help in recognizing our teachers and staff to remind them of how amazing they are! Below is information to fill out a quick survey for any and all staff members you know with complimentary words that describe them. We have something special planned to share this with our staff. Thank you so much for your help with this.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams
ACTION NEEDED by ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS Senate Bill 9 (SB9)
Senate Bill 9 Presentation Opt-In/Opt-Out Form
Form Due by April 19th
Dear Schluter Families,
Senate Bill 9 (SB 9) of the 87th Texas Legislative Session requires school districts to offer curriculum to students in the prevention of child abuse and family violence for elementary aged children. Parents/caregivers must provide consent before their child can receive instruction in the specified topics. Without opt-in consent, students will be unable to participate in the lesson(s).
Parent Opt-In/Opt-Out Form Link (You will need your child(ren)’s ID number)
With guidance from the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), Northwest ISD has approved the curriculum that will be used for the different grade levels. The curriculum is provided by and facilitated through a community partner, Alliance for Children: A Children’s Advocacy Center. Parents/caregivers may preview the curriculum to provide further insight into what these lessons look like.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Martinez, the counselor, at (817) 698-3913. Thank you.
**Attention 4th and 5th grade parents, this form is different from the previous form you filled out before Spring Break. Please complete this form in addition to that one.
Teacher Appreciation week is fast approaching and we need your help! We know you love our staff as much as we do, so let's show them.
Click on the link below to find any staff member's name and tell us what words best describe them! Submit for as many people and as many times as you would like.

Family Survey results now available online
Questions that resulted in a dissatisfaction score of 10% or more serve as growth opportunities for the district, and leaders will examine these areas for improvement. Some examples of areas for growth include responses to negative student behaviors and bullying. District leaders are already analyzing this data and planning improvements.
Transfer application window open through May 15
Northwest ISD allows families to request transfers to another campus for the next school year during a window that opens annually on April 1. Transfers requests are subject to the capacity of a campus, as several schools are closed to transfers because they are near or over their designed student enrollment.
Summer opportunities available in Northwest ISD
