Cedar Hill Scholar Athlete of the Week: Makiyah Risby (Sponsored by Superstar Collision Center)
Makiyah Risby has been a key part of the Cedar Hill High School Girls Basketball Team’s success.
She was honored last Friday as the Cedar Hill Scholar Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Superstar Collision Center, for her strong performance in the classroom.
Risby, who transferred to Cedar Hill from DeSoto, has helped put the Lady Longhorns (17-11, 7-2) in position to return to the UIL Class 6A Playoffs.
“We’re able to come together as a group – I enjoy our team chemistry,” said Risby, who joined the Longhorns program this season. “My favorite moments have been the scrimmages.”
Risby plans to attend Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma State or Memphis where she’d like to study Kinesiology/Physiology.
"Makiyah has been an incredible addition to our program," Cedar Hill head girls basketball coach Nicole Collins said. "Her competitive nature from the basketball floor carries into the classroom, which is why she is such a wonderful scholar athlete. I'm so proud to have her represent the Lady Longhorn Basketball Program."
