Budget Hearing Held- Tax Rate Dropping!
PLCS proposes an 11.5 cent tax levy decrease!
The 2023-24 budget hearing was held prior to the Board meeting. The proposed 2023-24 budget numbers show an overall general budget increase of only 3%. The largest portion of this increase is attributed to increase in staff salaries. Staff salaries and benefits are nearly 86% of the total budget.
An estimated eleven-and-a-half cent decrease is proposed in next year's overall tax levy. This decrease is possible because of extra funding provided by the state for special education. The Board will take action on the proposed budget at the next Board meeting on September 25th.
