FROM THE PRINCIPAL...TONY WHITE
One of life's greatest joys is watching your children become the people they will be. As a dad to three kids under five, my wife and I are living this joy right now. Everyday, our three and almost five year old have us in stitches laughing, in awe of their rapid growth, and loving every minute of it. Here, at Norton Creek, as we start the 2020-2021 school year, we find ourselves in a very similar situation.
On the first day of school, your Eagles came to us as the amazing people they are, and on the last day of school next May, they will be miles ahead of where they are even today. They will understand more about the world they are growing up in and the emotions they and others experience as their comprehension of complex text grows. Their critical thinking and problem-solving skills will evolve through their learning in math and science. And each day, their love for life and joy of learning will increase. By Memorial Day, your Eagle will look, sound, and feel like an even better version of themselves today. And, that's our goal in education: to help children become the best versions of themselves through the passion and compassion we pass along everyday.
"Star Wars" is not everyone's cup of tea, and even within the "Star Wars" fandom, the prequel trilogy is not even the most ardent fan's cup of tea. However, Yoda has a line that sums up what I'm rambling to say here: "Truly wonderful the mind of a child is." Our entire Norton Creek community certainly believes this, and we are excited to explore and continue to develop the minds of our Eagles. To our new friends, welcome to Norton Creek, and to our longtime friends, welcome back! It is going to be an absolutely amazing year, and I am excited to journey with each of you. Have a wonderful weekend in the sun with the people you love most!

PTO NEWS THIS WEEK
Welcome back Eagles both in person and remote students! Your PTO is here for you and thrilled to partner with our growing, hard-working staff this school year. A giant thank you to our Welcome Committee Chair Susan Brewster for setting up our balloon displays at the front entryway both this week and last week, organizing the distribution of signage for new families and kindergarteners with welcome bags and more, and for ordering our #cardmyyard sign displays!
Also, snag a discount on this year’s Treering yearbook online by ordering before September 30th and send your pictures (since we can’t get into the building to take as many this fall) to Shelly Atienza at: NCYearbook.shelly@gmail.com!
